Tiptoe Through the Tulips || Selina and Amelia || July 9, 1978
Sunday was quite possibly Amelia's favorite day of the week. It was the day she allowed herself to sleep in, relax a bit and focus on things she needed to do around her flat, or simply curl up with a book. This Sunday, however, she did have a commitment she needed to keep. Selina Sapworthy had been out of town for a while and had asked Amelia to look after her plants. The former Hufflepuff had a bit of a green thumb and had gotten on well with the woman who supervised her NEWT in Herbology. They'd kept in touch a bit after Amelia graduated, and she'd be flattered that Selina still trusted her enough to want her to be the one taking care of her plants while she was away.
It was mid morning by the time she arrived at Selina's house. She started outside, not wanting to be caught out in the heat of the day, and made her way methodically through the abundant gardens and greenhouses, checking everything. As she watered and weeded the plants that needed it, she hummed to herself, enjoying the solitary task. There was something therapeutic about caring for plants, but with her hectic schedule, she simply couldn't keep up with a true garden like this on a regular basis.
She rinsed her hands with a garden hose and dried them on her shirt before going inside to check on the plants there, still humming softly to herself. It wasn't the first time she'd been in Selina's house, but there was something different. The mail was moved, a plant that she hadn't watered since yesterday had water glistening on it's leaves and a dark, damp ring around the base. Sweet merlin, someone was in the house. Carefully, Amelia drew her wand and made her way toward the door to the next room. If someone had broken in, she wanted to know who and why.
