It’s a busy night this Friday which means a lot of tips for you and the other waitress/waiters and the fact that time passes by much faster. Friday and Saturday nights are always the busiest times of the week, so you and your best friend work it to make some extra cash. You’re usually a front-end waitress, but tonight they needed the extra help.

“Let me know if you need anything else,” you say to the group of ladies at your table.

They giggle as you walk away, and you join your best friend over by the entrance to the kitchen.

“My section just slowed down, but I know it’s not going to stay that way,” Steve groans, stretching his stiff muscles.

“I have something for you from the table of ladies,” you say and point them out. Steve makes eye contact with the blonde woman sitting there, and she gives him a flirty wave. You pull out the piece of paper she gave you with her number on it. “She wanted you to have this. Must be your lucky night. You have all eyes on you.”

Steve takes the piece of paper and gives you the best smile he can fake. You pat his shoulder and leave to get your next meal, but his smile is lost. He moves out of sight from the blonde girl because he doesn’t want her to know it’s her who is making him feel this way.

He may have all eyes on him, but he doesn’t have your eyes. He’s been in love with you ever since you both started working here, but he never had the courage to confess it. He’s tried in subtle ways to let you know that he’s always thinking of you, but it goes straight over your head. He doesn’t want to be with another girl, but if you keep this up, he might have to.

The only problem is he’s tried to get over you before, and he ended up falling for you even more. How can he be your best friend when he’s madly in love with you?
