"I thought it would be easy to run but my legs are broken."
Eric Fission and their twin brother Charles were raised in Kingston, New York by their mother and step-father. Eric wasn’t a very active child in terms of physical activity, but their hands were always moving, always doing something. Normally, the hands were used in mischievous ways. With the help and quickness of their brother, they would play small, mostly harmless pranks of teachers and students alike, most likely earning them detentions. Eric also excelled in math and often went to mathlete companions across the North East.
While Charles, with his outgoing, class-clown attitude, gained more friends and popularity as they grew older. Eric went the opposite way, turning into a bit of a shut in, spending most of their time watching old films (monster movies are their favorite), reading comics and working light and sound in their college theater troupe. However, the two never drifted apart, always remaining best friends. Eric trusted Charles with everything and when it was time for Eric to come out in regards to both their sexuality and gender, Charles was always the first one to know. They knew that he would accept them no matter what; they were twins.
One weekend, Charles’ other best friend, Dylan, invited them Up State to their father’s farm. Normally, Eric wouldn’t willing spend time outdoors but Eric was a sucker for sweet, cute girls such as Dylan. During this weekend away, they went camping in a more remote part of Up State. At night there was a noise outside of the tent that Eric went to go investigate. Unfortunately, their constant consumption of horror movies made them less cautious when venturing out. They don’t remember what happened next, but when they came too, they were in a hospital bed in a lot of pain. Because they had epilepsy, their first thought was they had a nasty seizure, but they were soon informed by a panicked Dylan and Charles that they were attacked by a wolf.
For the next few months, odd things started to happen. They would wake up in odd places with their clothes torn up, believing it to just be more seizures. They would start to crave more red meat and heal from cuts and bruises way too quickly. After the “seizures” they would usually be able to make it back into the house before anyone woke up. After the third month of this, Eric became paranoid and started to track their own movements. They found the pattern of when these strange things started to occur and began to film themselves. In the morning, they returned home to see a very worried Charles waiting up for them. After taking a shower and getting dressed, they sat down and watched the horror unfold in the video as Eric transformed on camera.
Scared and clueless, Charles tried his best to help his sibling, but it wasn’t what they needed. They decided it was best that if they left, maybe to find some answers they couldn’t find if they stayed at home. So, in the dead of night, they left a letter for Charles telling him not to follow, no matter how much he wanted, got on a bus and just left. Something drew them northwards, landing them in the town of Sumner. When they got there, there was all new smells. Everyone smelt different and not human. Feeling that they had found a new home with similar people, they got a job, got the smallest, crappiest apartment they could get, they settled into Sumner hoping to find out more about what and who they were.
