biography

As an only child, Santana grew up thinking she could run the world around her. She was showered with attention and love, always being given what she wanted. This was only magnified when she was 12 and her parents divorced. Her mom moved out to live with her abuela in Lima Heights Adjacent and it wasn’t like she was even given a choice. She was packed up and moved with her, leaving behind the house and life she had always known. Since her father was always working and didn’t seem to have time to spend with her, he just showered her with gifts and money. She began to use that to her advantage as she was angry all the time at her parents and the messiness that was involved in the divorce - as is seen by the fact that she convinced her father to pay for her breast implants the summer before junior year. She found that she had always had crushes - her first unofficial boyfriend being in kindergarten when she kissed a boy behind the slide on the playground. She was 13 when she had her first kiss with a girl and it was like the sky opened up and heaven rained down. She had already been dealing with the idea of having a crush on the other girl but when they kissed at a birthday party, it just felt right. Nothing came of anything with that kiss but it made her realize over the next year that those secret feelings she had been holding mean something. That was the beginning of the biggest secret she had ever held. Her family would never approve of her sexuality and she knew that if she were to ever come out, it would cause hell. When she started high school, she immediately gravitated to the Cheerios. Her mother had been cheerleading captain in high school and she just always wanted to make her parents proud of her. Being on the Cheerios and at the top of the social ladder meant it was easier to hide behind a sneer and the pompoms than show her thoughts. It also meant that when it came to her sexuality, she could hide behind the parties because hooking up with girls while drunk didn’t actually mean she was a lesbian - or she pretends to believe.

Being told she was constantly special combined with the parental issues definitely impacted the way she saw the world around and how she treated people. What she’d never tell people is that she was constantly second guessing herself and her decisions. She just wanted to be able to be open with the world but she was scared that it would never happen. It was one of the reasons she secretly loved the Glee club because when she was in that music room with those people, she didn’t always feel like she didn’t belong. She knew she could be happy without anyone judging her - even if she did tend to be judgmental of them. She was never the nicest person, always throwing an insult before a compliment. It was easier to make other people feel bad about themselves before they could make her feel bad about herself.

biography

santana grew up in the more affluent area of lima, her father a very specialized plastic surgeon in the region made good money and for the first half of santana’s life, things were easy, her old half brother had already moved out by the time she turned six and she had the run of the house. she was spoiled - rotten - and loved completely.

it wasn’t until she was thirteen that she started to see the cracks in her family unit when she caught her father in the act of cheating. that started a pattern of him showering her in gifts in exchange for her silence until finally her guilt caught up to her and she spilled the beans to her Mama - what resulted was a messy divorce, and Santana always felt responsible for her family being ripped apart.

during her freshman year of high school santana and her Mama moved in with her Abuela and have been living in Lima Heights ever since. She hates it, bu she’s learned to toughen up quiet a bit, so much so that being guarded, being defensive - and offensive - is really all she knows now. she lives on the bad side of town and misses her dad everyday - but she also hates him for what he did to her mom and feels guilty about both missing him and hating him.

when santana first kissed britany pierce her life changed forever. she knew it immediately, she was gay. but that was scary, her school would never accept her and her family would hate her for it, so she’d kept it secret for as long as she could but lately she’s slipped up and eventually was forced to come out (at least partially) to the glee club and word is starting to travel fast. she’s still terrified, and more than that she knows she hasn’t been completely truthful about her sexuality, even with her friends. but she figures once she’s out of Lima she can go on and live her lesbian dreams. until then she just needs to keep her head held high and play the role of the overly sexually promiscuous cheerleader - and she’s doing a hell of a job at it.

biography

Santana Maria Lopez is the only child born to Dr & Mrs. Lopez. She is quite literally the apple of her parents eyes, in their eyes she could do no wrong. Despite that she was judgemental and didn’t make friends easily she, in the eyes of her parents she was an angel. She has always been interested in singing and dancing so her parents decided to put her into singing lessons and ballet lessons. Lessons in which she took a shining to. Kept secret from her friends, Santana excelled in her lessons and became top of her class.

It wasn’t until she was ten years old that her father received a job in Lima Ohio that her family had to move from the sunny California. Santana had never been happy about the move but she understood that her father had to relocate and she had to go with her family, back to the hometown of her mother. Once in Lima and starting school her parents offered to find her new dance classes but she refused instead she headed in the direction of cheerleading.

As she grew older and made her way through the cheerleading teams, Santana found close friends in Brittany Pierce and Quinn Fabray. The three of them had become close friends, almost inseparable. They were the best friends that Santana ever had and could ever ask for. Two people to stick by her through everything? Absolutely perfect. The best friends to last her a lifetime. As they grew older and made their way to high school she could see how confident Brittany was with her sexuality yet Santana could only admire from afar.

She couldn’t admit to the world, let alone herself, that the latina was in fact a lesbian. Instead she kept up the front of being a heterosexual woman in today’s society. It made things much easier for the girl and the older she got the more attractive she became. With her rise in beauty and popularity Santana had gone from the angel of her parents to the slut of McKinley High.

She spent her high school years trying to prove not only to everyone else but to herself that she was a straight woman, but deep down she knew it wasn’t true. Her constant anger at herself caused her to constantly lash out at other’s. Being mean and calling others degrading names, it was one of the reason’s why Sue Sylvester saw such greatness in her. Santana Lopez was the HBIC of McKinley High and she wasn’t going to lose that title to anyone.

With this being her seinor year Santana knew that her time was running out. It was no lie that she had bounced back and forth from all the boy’s in McKinley High, but she wasn’t ready to tell anyone about her sexuality either way. The only one she could truly confide in was her best friend Brittany. Santana has never been able to bring herself to say the words out loud or to have everyone stare at her. She had witnessed first hand how Kurt was treated when he came out and she knew that she couldn’t handle dealing with that herself. No in fact Santana Maria Lopez was going to keep this secret for as long as she could unless she was forced out of the flannel closet by someone else’s hands.
