PNW folks: Portland is getting its own SXSW-type of music festival this year.

Soundscape NW is happening April 27 - May 2, bringing 100+ artists, multiple venues, and a mission to help support public radio and music discovery.

The 1st wave of artists were announced, including Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Toro Y Moi, and more, with dozens still to be announced!

Sneaky reminder to spend time with people you love

"I wish I could just talk to you in person" We live in the crazy world where we're always talking to everyone at the same time yet we sit by ourselves in our rooms. It's easy to get caught up in the quantity of our friendships and conversations that we forget to spend quality time with each other. I often toss people aside, thinking that as long as long as I send them the occasional message I'm fulfilling my duties as a friend. There are so many great things about being connected to each other by our phones and computers but sometimes it does lead to half hearted relationships. Thank you to my big brother from another mother for reminding me that we need to see each other soon. Thank you for showing me how to love others.

3 - ears

Thank you, God, for giving me ears to listen to the bird song that rings clear amongst the gentle hum of cars driving in the distance. Thank you that can listen to your word and understand it in my heart. Thank you for my friends have ears so we can go get them pierced together. Thank you that they listen to me when I'm happy and when I'm sad. Thank you, God, that you listen to our prayer. Thank you for hearing me when I cry out of despaired and when I sing praise to you.

2 - hearts

Thank you, God, for giving me a heart which keeps me alive, even though some of the valves don’t really work. Thank you that it pumps blood through my body while I am awake and while I am asleep.

Thank you for my friends’ hearts. Thank you for when we feel our hearts beating out of our chest in horror movies. Thank you that they beat slow when we feel peace in our hearts.

Thank you, God, for having a heart that is as merciful as it is just. Thank you that through your Holy Spirit, you change our hearts to be like yours.

1 - hands

Thank you, God, for giving me hands to give people high fives and to draw pictures with. Thank you that I can use my hands to move chairs at church and shoot hoops with.

Thank you for other people’s hands for my own to hold on to when I am cold and lonely. Thank you that I can paint their nails and make them friendship bracelets.

Thank you, God, for your guiding hand which holds me and draws me close to you. Thank you that you use your powerful hand to feed us and to bring justice to a darkened world.

Post-camp feels are strong after volunteering with a 5 day camp for families with children with a rare genetic disease called Smith-Magenis Syndrome. 

Just spreading the good vibes with a song I learned about on the first night of the camp.

Despite having to push through some super confronting and challenging situations and cleaning up all the vomit and slobber, I had a great time dancing, painting and rock climbing with the hilarious SMS kids and their amazingly supporting families. I will definitely be praying for each one of the precious people I've made friends with now that the camp is over.
