So! I've always thought it was very interesting how this prophecy in SSO virtually guided Rainbow through the storyline (created for him,whole reason he stayed looking for the artifacts) only for it to be of absolutely no significance in TSS. Ik the real reason is that SSO didn't exist until the Elemental arc but shhh hear me out

Right from the start Hypno was calling bullshit on this thing. He's the only one as far as I know who ever even questioned it,and,well...Hypno promised to whisper in the Steves ears about Rainbow. He didn't say anything about this prophecy.

Can't have anyone else stumbling on it and messing things up. Might as well burn this fate away ❤️‍🔥

The vibes I got from the end of the last episode of the Blue Steve Saga

Thinking about how immensely fucked up Rainbow's prophecy was. Not that the prophecy itself was wack (although it was) but like. He had to base his entire life around that prophecy.

Rainbow was created,quite literally,as nothing more than a weapon. He was supposed to gather the artifacts,defeat Nightmare Steve,and thennnn...what? Rainbow himself doesn't even know. When Hypno asked what Rainbow was planning on doing after the evils were defeated, Rainbow just awkwardly said he'd go live off peacefully somewhere.

Imagine being born and told your only reason for existence is to fight. The elders didn't consider that Rainbow would be his own person,that much is obvious. Didn't consider that Rainbow would make friends,or be scared,or struggle with the artifacts and with his powers. And don't even get me STARTED on the artifacts. I have a deep,deep hatred for those things. What do you MEAN they don't work all the time and say cryptic bullshit. And oh,that red one? That stole Blue's powers and gave him a panic attack to "teach him a lesson" that he was "more than his powers and had to accept losing them" or something? I want that thing dead. I'm so happy Hypno destroyed them. Ahem,back on topic-

It's really saddening to think that the people who wrote the prophecy wouldn't have cared how much Rainbow suffered or was lonely as long as the Nightmare king was destroyed. And Rainbow feels bound because of it. It doesn't matter how scary it gets,how impossible it seems. Even when the worst happens,when your best friend is dead and the villains all powerful- you don't have the luxury of giving up. You have to save the steves. You don't want to be a failed prophecy,do you?

Anyway,I don't think it's a coincidence that Rainbow becomes really close with Blue (who does believe in the prophecy,but obviously values Rainbow outside of that,and considers him as a person more important than his fate) and Hypno (who immediately calls bullshit on the prophecy and likes Rainbow despite it all being a sham)

Once again thank you to Hypno for destroying that prophecy because it is not Fucking Anywhere in TSS. As it should be.

Also fuck the elder steves these bitches are clueless what the hell were they doing.

Do you ever think that, while Blue's trapped in the spiritless realm, he ever got news about what was going on in the overworld? Would he have tried to seek out information about what happened to Rainbow? How would he have felt about the rainbow town, since, if I remember correctly, he himself tried to create a town like that but failed? What about the way rainbow eventually became friends with the yellow steve formerly known as Nightmare? Or the fact that there were so many more powerful villains out there, the artifacts are gone, and Rainbow was basically set up to fail? That he had lost his powers as well? That he was destroyed in an act of self-sacrifice in the same exact way that Blue was, that Rainbow only did after temporarily joining the side of evil because he was so tired of doing what he was created for, fighting off villains only for new, even more insurmountable ones to show up?

Does he know that Rainbow lost his memories of the times they adventured together, and was traveling with a new friend who was so like him, yet so different?
