warnings: lots of physical touch, reader is mentioned to have longer hair, or at least until ears. just like, pure love and fluff too, which is really unusual for me.
summary: eddie for the life of him cannot figure out how to keep himself away from you. after a slip up reveals that eddie’s constant touches are a little more than friendly, he’s forced to ramble about how much he loves you and the back of your knees.
The first time he’d touched you after he realized he was in love, Eddie made a deal with himself.
It was nothing heavy, just a hand smoothed against your side as he walked. You tease him for how diagonal he walks, always bumping into things, but he likes to joke that you just mess up his gravitational field. A fleeting moment, with seemingly no effect on you, but Eddie’s brain froze. The back of his hand felt like someone was sticking pins in it. He couldn’t focus on what you were telling him, something Robin had said to you last week?
He nodded along, surprised he was calm enough to, considering his brain was moving quicker than it ever had. And he thought he needed to memorize it. He wasn’t drowning your voice out on purpose, but god, shut up and let him think. He tried to remember the moment, the feel of your skin, the curve of your side. And he thought about it for hours, cementing it there in the nerves of his hand and the front of his mind.
And in his bed that night, he made a deal that if he could memorize that one touch for the rest of his life, keep it somewhere safe and feel it all over again, then he wouldn’t need to tell you that he was in love with the way you rolled your eyes at his tapes in the car, or the smile you gave him when he begrudgingly plays one of yours. He would live happily with a tiny piece of you for himself.
But Eddie has a horrible memory. And when he wakes up the next morning, he’s half-dressed when he realizes the memory isn’t the same anymore. It’s too fuzzy, too far away. He huffs and pulls his shirt down over his head. And when you pick him up bright and early the next day, Max tucked away in the backseat of your car, he is staring at your hand the entire time. He knows it’s a little odd, and he catches you giving him a couple of weird looks, but he’s trying desperately to call the memory back to him. And maybe it’s a tad odd when he knocks your car keys off the dash out of desperation, waiting for you to reach for them before he lunges his hand out, too. It ‘accidentally’ clashes with yours and Eddie grins a little.
“What are you smiling at, clumsy? Stop throwing my stuff everywhere.” You scowl.
Giddy with the thrill of your touch, he continues causing small accidents as an excuse to touch you. He claims that your arm has a scratch on it so he can lift your wrist to graze his fingers over the skin before he gingerly sets it down, grinning as he tells you it must’ve been a shadow. He throws small paper balls in your hair as he sits behind you in class so that he can tell you he needs to pull them out and fiddle with your hair later. Eventually, when he realizes you haven’t caught on, he moves onto just straight up touching you.
It happens so smoothly that you don’t even realize it. A hand slipped on your arm when you mutter about the breeze. His legs tucked halfway under yours as a movie plays in Robin’s basement. Fingers dancing across your back when you fall asleep while he’s driving you home.
And it becomes so normal, so casual, that soon enough it’s just always there. His life before that first touch and after blur together, and he can’t really remember a time when he didn’t know the feel of your skin. When you sit next to him his hand just slips onto your knee. His fingers get caught in the ends of your hair in class. You take no notice, just Eddie being Eddie.
You don’t think twice about it until Mike asks whether your parents know you and Eddie are dating.
“What are you talking about?” You mutter, thinking you didn’t hear him right.
“You and Eddie. Do your parents know?” He repeats himself, brows crowding together.
“Know what?”
“You and Eddie are dating?”
“No, we’re not.” You shake your head in confusion.
“Yeah, you are.”
“No.”
“Yes?”
“Mike, why would you think I’m dating Eddie?”
“I mean, you guys are like on top of each other all the time. It’s so coupley.”
“We are not!”
“Y/n, yesterday, he was like, brushing your hair.”
“So, what?” You scoff.
“I don’t know, Y/n. Eddie is touchy but he’s not that touchy.”
You sit there in silence with Mike’s revelation, too confused to ask more questions. Mike isn’t done, though.
“You’re really not dating?”
“Shut up, Mike.”
That night, Eddie is supposed to come over and study. At least, he’s supposed to come over and keep you company while you study. You do your best to pour over your Western Civ notes but you feel Eddie’s fingers sift through your hair, softly rubbing a piece between his fingers and his thumb. It continues for a few minutes and you are suddenly unable to focus on your notes no matter how much you try. You feel how close he is sitting behind you on the floor of your bedroom. Is he always this close? Have you just never noticed?
Why is he so close?
You feel every nerve in your skin light up as his fingers leave your hair to flit down the nape of your neck, tracing an invisible line to your shoulder blades. You abruptly turn around and stare at him.
“What?” Eddie laughs, “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Eddie,” You try, lips pressed into a thin line.
“Shit,” He whines. “What’d I do this time?”
“Nothing, Eddie. I just wanted to ask you something.” You mumble.
“Oh,” He shuffles even closer to you, hand reassuringly grabbing your elbow. “Yeah, sure, what’s up?”
“Why are you, you know, why do you,” You try. “Why have you been really close recently?”
Eddie’s face scrunches up. “Really close? Haven’t we been friends for a while? I didn’t see you that much this week, did I?”
“Not like that, no.” You interrupt him to rephrase. “Not emotionally, Eddie, physically. Like, physically close.”
His eyes widen, and he scoots a little far back from you. “Oh, Y/n, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable or anything like that, swear it, I can stay multiple feet away.”
“No, Eddie, just listen,” You try to intervene, but he’s on his feet.
“Never meant to upset you, really. If I had known,” “Eddie!” “Do you want me to go? I can go,” “Eddie, shut up and listen!”
He presses his mouth into a thin line and sits back down, a good three feet away from you.
“All I asked was why? Is something going on? Can I help you with whatever this is?”
Eddie’s tongue peeks out from between his lips in thought. He curses himself for breaking his deal. He couldn’t keep it to himself, became greedy and wanted more than one touch from you, and this was his punishment. He had to tell you he was in love with you.
God knows he could never lie to you.
“Do you want me to stop?” He whispers. Stalling. He’s stalling.
Your brow raises. “Never said that, no. C’mon, Eddie, what is going on? It’s me, just spit it out!”
“That is exactly the issue, Y/l/n. It’s you.” He groans and shoves the heels of his palms into his eyes.
“What the fuck did I do?”
“Nothing! It’s just you, and it’s you, and my brain short-circuits around you, and this isn’t going to make any sense, but, God, Y/n, I love the back of your knees.”
“What?”
“They’re so nice. And soft. All of you is always so nice and soft and good and I really like your knees and your shoulder blades and your forehead. I know I’m just naming body parts, but I didn’t really plan this out, I kind of wish I had.” He rambles.
“Ok, slow down, let’s-” “And I know I should be able to keep it to myself but, Y/n, that goes out the window whenever you’re near me, I have to be close to you, this shit sounds so weird, but I love all of you so much and being able to feel you is like a lifeline. And I don’t care if it’s your face, or your stomach, or your feet, or your knees, but I love it all. S’like- listen, I don’t know what I’m talkin’ about anymore, but s’like this- knowing that you’re around, and you’re real, makes me feel so much better every single day. I don’t get it, Y/n, I don’t, but I love you, and I really, really, really hope that made sense.”
He finishes his ramble with wide eyes and red cheeks and his hands are gesticulating wildly.
“You have never, ever, made sense to me, Munson.” You mumble breathlessly, scrambling over to where Eddie is cross-legged on the floor of your room to kiss him. His hands hover over you for a moment and you have to blindly fumble for them, and press them to your face before he kisses you back.
You pull away, out of breath. “I really love your hair and your arms. I’m in love with you, too.”
He leans forward in record time to kiss you again, grinning like a madman. Which he guesses he is, at least around you.
You sit back on your heels in front of him, and he reaches a hand out towards you but pauses before he pushes your hair behind your ear, hand experimentally continuing down your cheek, the line of your jaw, before he folds it back into his lap.
warnings: brief mentions of domestic abuse, bruises, and sex (not on page!), but mostly fluff and a touch of angst
prompt: Billy is sleeping on Y/n. Reader is soft running he hand's through his hair while reading a book. He still a little groggy when he wakes up a little bit and sees Y/n's face and he says you're so gorgeous. I'm going to keep you and call you my wife
You don’t notice Billy has fallen asleep until a soft snore breaks you away from the paragraph you’re reading. You keep your thumb pressed to the book’s spine as you lift it up to see his face beneath, squished on your lap. Your other hand is knotted delicately in his sandy curls and his thick eyelashes are heavy on his high cheekbones.
You almost can’t believe it. He’s never been this peaceful, always a guard up even with you, especially after the night he had. It ended with him sneaking through your window after an argument with his dad.
He doesn’t usually sleep after those. Usually stares at the same spot on the wallpaper while you curl up next to him, waiting. For what, you don’t know. You know he won’t talk about it. He likes being here because you don’t pressure him to, though he knows he can if he wants. But now it’s eleven a.m., and the plate of breakfast you shared is empty beside your legs, and you’re reading on your bed because Billy isn't in the mood to go anywhere, do anything, and he’s asleep.
He looks so fucking peaceful it breaks your heart. Ever so gently, you pull your hand out of his hair and trace along his cheekbone, his ear, his jaw. It flutters, but he doesn’t. He remains asleep, nestling his face into your soft thigh, and you swear to god you’re about to cry because it’s the best feeling in the world. Like he’s chosen you. Like he trusts you to keep him safe while he drifts off for a few hours to somewhere better, warmer, than his usual life.
Carefully, you grab the old throw from the bottom of your bed and drape it across his bare shoulders, soaking him in just a moment longer before you go back to your book. His mouth is curled upwards for a change, serenity parting his pink lips as his breaths leave him in and out, in and out. Even that steady rhythm settles something restless inside you like a lullaby. He’s always angry or messing around or fucking you senseless, breaths always hot and fiery like a dragon’s, but not now. Now they’re gentle as a mild spring breeze, blowing across the cotton of your pyjama bottoms.
A smile graces your lips, unstoppable and unbridled. He’s peaceful, happy, and that makes you feel the same.
You settle back, spine resting against your headboard as you try to remember where you were in your book. Billy mumbles occasionally or adjusts his position, and you’re so desperate to keep him there that you brush your nails along his scalp the way you always beg him to do for you — he’ll usually draw a few figure eights and then get bored.
But not you. You could stay like this forever, even when your legs begin to ache and you’re desperate to stretch. You fight it all to make sure he stays like this.
Eventually you get back to your book, the midday light pouring through your curtains and the birds singing outside. Everything feels easier in this little pocket of peace. Your heart feels lighter. You’ve never been like this with another human, never coexisted beyond the need for conversation or activity.
As you turn the page, Billy shifts again, sniffing. You feel his eyes open a moment later and peer over your book at him. “Afternoon, sunshine,” you tease.
A breathy chuckle falls from him, and his hand finds yours beside your hip. He keeps his chin on your lap as he looks up at you.
“Watcha looking at?” you ask lightly, playing with his fingers and lowering your book.
“You.” His voice is still thick and throaty with sleep, the cheek that had been squished on your thigh rosy. “You’re so fuckin’ gorgeous.”
Heat rushes to your cheeks. You slip your bookmark between the pages of your book and set it down, no longer able to live with it separating the two of you, blocking your vision of him. You want all of him, want to just be here, and that’s a first, too — to prefer reality over fiction.
“Shut up.” You nudge him playfully.
He smirks, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. Only then does he seem to acknowledge the blanket around him, and he props himself up on his elbows before shimmying closer to you. You spread your legs so he can come closer, so he can wrap himself in you, a laugh falling from you when he loops his arms around your waist and tugs you into him. “Billy.”
“That was the best nap I’ve ever had,” he admits, brushing a strand of hair from his eyes. It causes the blanket to pool around his elbows.
“You probably needed the sleep. It was another long night,” you murmur, ruffling his curls again. “I hope you feel safe here, Billy. I hope you know you’re okay here. You’re home here.”
“I wouldn’t come here if I didn’t.” He takes your hand; peppers a kiss on each knuckle. “You know what’s weird?”
He flips around so he’s lying on his back again, this time between your thighs while you hunch over him, breathless and rapt with every little movement he makes. “What?”
“I love doin’ nothing with you,” he mumbles, blue eyes fixing on your lampshade hanging from the ceiling.
You rub his shoulders, down to his chest. Sometimes you catch him tensing when you touch him without warning, but not today. Not now. Something’s changed. “Me too,” you admit.
“Know what else is weird?”
You hum in question.
“Had a dream you were my wife just now.” His lips twitch with a hint of a smile, irises gleaming wistfully. “Best damn dream I ever had.”
You falter above him, breath hitching in your throat. He’s never talked like that before, and you don’t expect him to. You’re young, only just figuring this thing out, only just learning how to love and he’s Billy damn Hargrove, former king of messin’ around with whoever he can get his hands on.
But you’re certain — dead fucking certain — he wouldn’t say shit like that if there wasn’t some part of him that meant it. And you hope to god he does, because you can imagine it too. Sunday mornings spread out on the bed like this, or road trips on a Saturday, him tapping the steering wheel of the Camaro while you sing along and rest your hand out of the window to feel the breeze. To catch it, bottle it, because you’d do anything to keep every moment with him forever.
“What else happened in this dream?” you ask carefully.
He laces his fingers through yours and places your hands on his chest, where his heart pounds beneath. “Nothin’ exciting. We were just dancing in the kitchen, making breakfast, a little like this morning. Only you had this wedding ring on and I kept kissing it. Kept kissing you. And the kitchen, the house, it was ours. White picket fence and everythin’. And I said I wish I could marry you again over and over, because once wasn’t enough. And then you did your usual pretty little blush and looked at me with those fucking eyes you know I can’t look away from, and I just…” He trails off and shakes his head.
“You soppy jerk.” You slap him lightly, teasing, because you’re not sure how else to manage this colossal amount of love. Your heart is full to bursting and tears are pricking your eyes.
“There it is,” he whispers, looking at you upside down and tapping your cheek. “Pretty little blush.” He groans. “And those fuckin’ eyes.”
You roll them, half-tempted to cover your face before you melt into a pathetic puddle of goo. It’s rare he says things like this out loud, even if you know he feels them. But you never imagined they’d sound like this coming from his mouth, hoarse and honest and sincere and enough to turn you inside out. There’s no coming back from this, you know. No way to stop loving him now. You’re in too deep, and there won’t be a life, a time, where you don’t feel this way. It’ll follow you forever, through fire and thunder, because it’s real. It’s so fucking real you can feel it in your bones like an itch, an ache.
You’re in love with him.
“Could be real,” you comment bravely. “That dream of yours. Doesn’t have to stay a dream.”
He smiles, sighs. “One day, baby.” He kisses your left hand, your ring finger, where the wedding band must have been in your dream, and his lips alone feel like a branding of gold. A promise.
“Don’t say things you don’t mean,” you beg, because it’s devastating you. Even when you know he’d never say things like this without meaning them, you can’t imagine a life past him sneaking into your room every night, broken and bruised. You can’t imagine him keeping his guards down like this for another hour, let alone the rest of your lives. You can’t even really imagine him getting down on one knee or saying he loves you just because he can.
But you probably wouldn’t have imagined him sleeping in your lap or talking about marriage this morning, either. And now look at you both.
“I’m not.” A shadow crosses his features, and you regret your words immediately. He sits up and twirls around so you're face to face, finally on the same eye level. And then he cups your jaw, eyes boring into yours. “I’m gonna be good enough to be your husband one of these days, baby. I swear to god. We’ll get out of here, find somewhere new. Somewhere where it’s not always so heavy. And you and me…we’re gonna be as happy as I dreamt. Forever.”
Your eyes flutter closed, a tear trickling down your cheek. “You’re already good enough, Billy. You’re all I want. Exactly as you are.”
His fingers filter through your hair as he pulls you closer to kiss you properly, deeply, until heat stirs in your belly and you’re so dizzy you’re seeing stars.
And because you’re feeling safe, right, courageous, you whisper, “I love you.”
“Love you, too.” The words could break you, especially the way he says them. Like it’s true. Like there is nothing in the world that’s truer. Like you’re it for him.
And he’s it for you.
You smile, resting your forehead against his chin and breathing him in. “Must have been some nap.”
“Was,” he admits, and then picks up your book and hands it to you. “Will you read to me for a little bit?” He lies back down, hugging your leg again. “Just wanna hear your voice.”
Your entire body is fluttering, but somehow, you find the steadiness to read aloud. He dozes in and out of consciousness, but whenever you stop, he begs you to keep going, like he can’t bear a world where you’re not talking.
And you feel needed. Important. Special. Because the rest of the world gets Billy’s walls and barbs and armour, and you…you get so much more.
You get soft Sundays in bed, and you get to catch his tears when they fall. You get a life with him.

Eddie Munson~Teacher's Pet
You couldn't help but stare at him. You don't want to- but, you do. Eddie Munson. You'd had a crush on the metal head for... For as long as you could remember. Eddie and yourself had crossed paths numerous times: he sat beside you in English, you went to the same middle school, you had mutual friends. And, yet you hadn't managed to say a thing to him about your huge and obvious crush you had on him. You hadn't managed to say much of anything to him, lately.
"You know, you can go to speak to him," Robin chimes in, placing her lunch tray down and taking a seat beside you, "Or you know, you can stare at him forever."
"Shut up Robin," you whine, "I can't just go up to him!"
Robin rolls her eyes.
"And, why not?" she asks, glancing towards you.
"Because I don't even know what to say to him!" you insist, "What do I just say? Hi Eddie Munson I've been in love with you since middle school, let's run away together?"
"Hmm maybe too subtle," Robin teases you.
You groan.
"This is hopeless," you profess, "I'm just going to never speak to him, graduate and move out of Hawkins. Perfect plan."
"Or... Or you could ask him about that cult he runs!"
"It's not a cult! They play a game," you insist, "It's called Dungeons and Dragons."
"That's it! Ask him about that, then. Ask him to teach you how to play it," Robin plots, "That way you get to speak to him, and he gets to rant about hell...Hell Flame."
"-Hell Fire," you correct.
"See- you already care about his cult- club. You're off to a great start," she smiles.
"You're ridiculous," you huff with a small smile, "But, you might be right."
"I'm always right."
"Whatever," you smile and push her lightly.
And, yet, you can't stop thinking about what Robin had suggested. Even after lunch and into the next period, you mull over what she had said... I mean, it wasn't technically the worst idea- and if nothing else it meant you had a legitimate excuse for talking to Eddie. One where he might be too distracted with the topic of Dungeons and Dragons, that he was oblivious to your massive crush you had on him. You leave your class room, and your eyes widen as you see Eddie from across the hall. Well, it was worth a shot.
"Hey, Eddie right?" you ask approaching him as he is just about to slam his locker closed.
Eddie tries not to jump at the sound of a sweet voice beside him. He glances to you with a confused look on his face. His heart rate increases. You offer him a sweet smile, and he tries to not look too nervous. There was no way YOU were speaking to him right now. Eddie had a small (gigantic) crush on you ever since you were in the same class together in middle school, but he had yet to work up the courage to become more than acquaintances.
"H-hi, yeah, hi," Eddie stutters out, "I mean, yeah I'm Eddie."
You let out a small giggle, and Eddie curses himself. Did you come over to him just to make him nervous and embarrass him? Surely, you weren't that cruel... Eddie snaps out of it: no, he knew what you were here for.
"I don't have anything on me at the moment, but I can meet you by the bench in the woods tomorrow-"
"-Eddie, I'm not here to buy off of you," you smile, and then hesitate, "But, I do need your help."
"My help?" Eddie asks, now even more lost than before: if you didn't want to buy, what could you possibly want?
"You can totally say no to this by the way," you preface, "But I wondered if you could teach me how to play Dungeons and Dragons?"
"Now, you're definitely just over here to tease me," Eddie rolls his eyes and fold his arms, "What? Pretty girl wants to learn how to play D&D? I don't buy it. Why now, huh? Hell Fire has been around for years and now you want to join? It doesn't-"
"-I'm not teasing you," you insist, mortified that Eddie was getting annoyed at you, "Okay, I know I'm not the archetype of someone who plays Dungeons and Dragons, but the truth is I want to learn because I want to impress someone I like okay?"
Fuck. You didn't know why you said that. He was definitely going to figure it out now.
"Ooooh, Y/N has a little crush," Eddie smirks, dropping his annoyed expression and going back to a friendly demeanour, "A crush that likes D&D? Who is it?"
"T-they don't go here," you snap, "And, yes he likes D&D- but if you're going to be like this then I can go ask Gareth to teach me-"
"-No! No, it's fine. I'll teach you, don't be like that," Eddie halts you, "You want to learn from the best, right?"
"What's your character name? Eddie the Humble?" you tease.
"Ouch," Eddie feigns hurt, dramatically stumbling into his lockers, "You wound me."
"I do apologise, my Liege," you say with just as much dramatic flare, "Are you free later? Pizza on me. Am I forgiven?"
"You are forgiven. I am very easily swayed by flattery and bribery," Eddie replies, but pauses, "Your place or mine?"
"My place works," you answer, scribbling your address down on the edge of your note book before ripping it and handing it to Eddie, "I have a free house. My parents are out of Hawkins for business, so no bed time for us."
"Free pizza, Dungeons and Dragons, and no bed time? You really know a way to a mans' heart, sweetheart."
"Shut up, Munson," you blush, "See you later. About 7."
"It's a date."
Your heart was beating so fast as you walk away from Eddie, and you can barely believe what had just happened. Eddie Munson was coming to your house. The Eddie Munson. If your middle school self you see you know, they would be screaming out of excitement. You have to call Robin- even if you would be met with a flurry of 'I told you so's, she deserved to know her plan had worked.
~~~
Eddie couldn't believe what had just happened. If it wasn't for the scrap of paper he held between his thumb and index finger, he would've definitely thought he dreamt it. He looked towards your figure, which was disappearing from his sight, then back towards your address. Eddie smiled. 1986 was definitely going to be his year.
"Are we still on for practice later?"
Eddie is that distracted by thoughts of you that he doesn't even realise that Gareth and the rest of Corroded Coffin had appeared behind him.
"Huh?" Eddie asks, before his brain catches up, "Actually no. Gentlemen, I have different plans. Y/N and I-"
"-Finally! You asked her out on a date," Gareth concluded.
"Well no. No, not exactly," Eddie mutters, "But, they asked me to teach them how to play Dungeons and Dragons and I'm going to their place later. So no practice."
"So she asked you?"
"No! Yes- well, technically it's not even a date! You know what, I'm not even going to discuss this anymore- I've got to go freshen up."
"For your date," Gareth teases.
"Fuck you guys!" Eddie huffs, only half annoyed: in reality, he was too happy to be annoyed.
~~~
You laid on your bed, trying not to watch the minutes tick by. It was hard not to: the interaction you had with Eddie went perfectly, and so some part of you was beginning to suspect you had dreamt it and he was never coming. That was stupid. You were just over reacting. He was coming- he was definitely going to show up-
The door bell rings.
"Coming!" you say all but running down the stairs.
You open the door and smile as you are greeted with Eddie, who has a book in one hand and a bag on his shoulder. He was going full teacher mode. You move aside so he can enter and direct him up the stairs to your bedroom.
"Eddie," you smiled, "You made it."
"Wouldn't miss it for the world, princess," he smiles back.
Your heart all but flutters at the nickname.
"First one on the left," you direct as you lock the door behind you and follow him upstairs.
Eddie let out a low whistle as he entered your room. It wasn't what he was expecting. For some reason, he had pictured your room to be pink, full of frills and covered in cute decorations. And, teddy bears. Lots of teddy bears. Okay, so maybe he was just picturing a stereotypical girls room he'd seen in shows and movies, but he was surprised nonetheless when he took in what he saw. Posters: of bands he had actually heard of- and liked. Lots of decoration around- photos of your friends, bands you liked, you as a kid. And a teddy bear. Just one. Eddie looks to you with a smile.
"You have such a cool room!" he exclaims, making himself at home on your bed, "No way! A judas priest poster!"
You roll your eyes, "Don't act so surprised, Munson!"
You take off your jacket, and he eyes the band t shirt that you're wearing.
"And is that a Metallic t shirt? Wore it all for me?"
"No, you ass hole," you jab back, sitting opposite him on the bed, "I just have good taste in music. Have you heard their new song 'Master of Puppets' yet?"
"Heard it?!" Eddie exclaims, gesturing wildly with his hands, "I live and breathe it, sweetheart. I'm learning to play it! Almost got it down!"
"Well, I have to hear it!" you encourage, "Next Dungeons and Dragons lesson is at yours!"
"Inviting yourself round are we? Kind of forward," Eddie flirts, leaning in towards you, "You already want a second lesson? We haven't even had our first."
You try not to give him the satisfaction of blushing.
"Kind of eager," Eddie all but purrs.
"Shut up!" you push back at him, gazing down at his hands where he was leisurely twirling one of his rings before looking back up at him, "You're just happy someone outside of Hell Fire wants to listen to you talk about this game!"
Eddie breaks his gaze, and the tension lowers for a second.
"You're not wrong," Eddie sighs dramatically, before adding, "And it does help that it's you..."
It was your turn to tease him.
"What does that mean?" you pester.
"N-nothing!" Eddie gets flustered, losing his confidence as your stare at him, "Right! Dungeons and Dragons!"
"Dungeons and Dragons."
~~~
Eddie watches you as you fill out your character sheet. He'd give you a run down of all the different types of characters you could be: their roles, their races, their traits. And, then instructed you to create your own character. As he watches you, his thoughts drifted back to why you had invited him here in the first place. You were learning this for a guy. Not him. Some guy. Eddie internally huffs; he'd been trying to get you to notice him for how long? And, now you were learning a whole fantasy realm for some guy. His thoughts spill over to his words.
"So tell me more about your crush," Eddie says, twirling a strand of hair between his fingers.
You look up at him, and are brought back to the white lie you had told Eddie to get him here.
"I've been trying to guess, actually... I know you said he doesn't go to Hawkins, but I thought you might've said that just to throw me off the scent. I can rule a few people out," Eddie muses, "It's not Jason- he wouldn't be caught dead playing-"
"-And Jason is not my type!" you object immediately, your attention completely leaving your character sheet, "Give me some credit. I don't like assholes like that!"
Eddie puts his hands up in surrender.
"What is your type then, sweetheart?"
Your heart beats fast, and you feel like this is now or never. You'd only been crushing on Eddie since middle school. You could tell him. Rip it off like a bandage: just tell him. Just tell Eddie Munson you've been in love with him for yours. Your voice catches, but after a moment you speak.
"I don't know... Uh, I like long hair. Good taste in music. Sweet. Makes me laugh. Brown eyes. Plays in a band," you take a pause, trying not to lose your nerve, "Named Eddie."
Eddie's eyes widen.
"I... What?"
For once, Eddie is silent. This couldn't be real, could it? He'd only been in love with you since he was a young teen. Fuck. 'Tell her you love her! Tell her she's your type too!' Eddie's internal monologue screams. Say something- say anything. But, he couldn't. He lost his voice while he was processing your words, trying to decipher if what you said was a hallucination. Had he finally smoked too much? Your voice brings him from his thoughts.
"The truth is... There is no guy," you confess, avoiding looking at Eddie, "Not really. Well, not another guy. You- you were the guy this whole time, and I just wanted to spend more time with you but I was too much of a coward to ask you out. So I, well Robin suggested it really... I asked you to teach me about D-"
"-You like me?" Eddie interrupts, his eyes wide.
"Yeah. Is that... Is that okay?" you swallow your words, glancing up at him.
"Is that okay?" Eddie repeats, almost laughing at his and your obliviousness, "I've only had a crush on you since we were like twelve!"
"Since middle school?!" you exclaim, "And you didn't say anything?"
"Neither did you," he retorts.
"Fair," you laugh out, not realising how close the two of you had gotten.
"So... Uh-"
"-Can I kiss you?" you interrupt.
"Yes! I mean... Yes," Eddie rambles, only stopping when you press your lips to his.
You pull Eddie closer to you, until you are basically in his lap. Eddie groans into you and his hands finds their way around your waist, and you in turn place your hand on the side of his face, before running it through his hair. God, you loved his hair. You wondered if he would let you pull on it.
Summary: You and Steve have been secretly seeing each other for a couple of months now, and one morning you get caught.
A/N: This is probably set sometime around season 3, and also, the reader is Dustin's older sister. I hope you enjoy this!
You couldn't help your smile as you looked at Steve sleeping next to you. You'd been together for a couple of months now and he started sneaking in through your window a few weeks back.
When you first met Steve, he'd come to your house looking for Dustin, but he wasn't around so you invited him in for a drink whilst he waited for him to get back.
Fast forward to now, you were currently laying in your bed with him, wearing his t-shirt as you gently traced your fingers through his hair. It was actually almost time for him to sneak back out. You see, you didn't want people to know about you and him just yet, mostly because of your brother. You knew he'd give you shit about it.
You pulled your hand back when Steve started moving beside you. And then he turned to look at you, squinting slightly. "Hey."
You smiled. "Hey."
"Time to go?" He asked.
"Nah." You said, shaking your head. "We have at least five minutes."
"You sure? Because I swear, if Dustin finds out about this he'll never forgive me."
"He's not gonna find out." You assured him as you climbed on top of him, pressing a light kiss to his lips.
But before either of you could take this any further, you heard someone knocking on your door before they started to push it open.
"Oh...shit." You hissed, pushing yourself off of Steve and shoving him off the bed. "Hide."
Unfortunately, it was too late as your idiot brother was now standing in your room, his mouth hanging open. "Steve?"
Steve waved at him awkwardly as he remained sat on the floor beside your bed. "Henderson."
"What the hell?!"
"Look, it...it's not what you think." Steve tried to say, although you weren't exactly sure where he was going with this, since he was in your bedroom with his shirt on your body.
Dustin stood there, folding his arms across his chest as he looked at Steve. "Alright then, what're you doing in my sister's bedroom?"
"I...came to see you?"
"Bullshit." Dustin said, a look of disgust appearing on his face. "God, it's like walking in on my mom."
You couldn't help but laugh at that as you looked at Steve. "You're his mom."
"So what...are you two like...hooking up or something?"
"That's none of your business, asshole." You said, standing up from the bed. "And anyway, what the hell are you even doing coming into my room?"
"Mom told me to get you up. You're driving me to school remember?"
"Oh shit, yeah." You remembered, as you started looking around your room for some clothes. "Just...give me a minute and I'll be ready."
Dustin just gave you a heavy sigh before turning to walk out of your room. And when you turned to Steve, you couldn't help but laugh, which left him pretty confused. "What's so funny? Henderson--your brother literally just caught us together."
"You gotta admit though, it was kinda funny."
"In what way was that funny?"
"Oh Steve, stop being such a mom." You whined, walking towards him to cup his face in your hands. "It was funny."
He just smiled at you then before leaning down to place a kiss on your lips. "I suppose it was a little funny."
Thinking about making Eddie Munson clean his room.
·Finds excuses to keep everything. And I mean EVERYTHING.
·That old fast food wrapper? Its from the first night you stayed over.
·Old ripped magazine? He promised that back to Dustin 3 months ago and, well, hes a man of his word.
·Kind of a hoarder tbh
·And don't get me started on his music collection. You swear you organize it every day, but it always ends up piled messy on his shelves, dressers, floor, anywhere thats flat really.
·Swears up and down that he IS going to read the school books piled on the edge of the bed.
·Has 10 billion notebooks full of music and dnd campaign ideas.
·We all know he doesnt take care of his laundry, so its probably stacked in the bottom of his closet.
·Trying to get you to help every 2 seconds
·"If you want it done so bad why dont you just do it yourself?"
·Getting about 3 hours in and finding floor?!?
·Swears hes survived just fine without sheets and pillowcases, but folds when you threaten to never sleep in his bed again if he doesnt put them on.
·When its finally done (sorta) he swears hes dead and the only way he can be revived is with takeout and a movie.
His blue irises reflect the steady stream of moonlight. The night sky and its many little crystals of light peak in on him through the foggy beads of dew and drizzle. The rain patters against glass in a steady melancholic drum; wind rattles the old pipes and wooden bones of the room like a lonesome dog begging to be let in. The windowpanes lead to nature’s own picture show in technicolor, but Billy’s mind wanders to the monochromatic.
To the past. To just that day’s passing period where fifth transitions to sixth. To when the stubborn clouds finally part their curtains to the sun in this drowsy, little northern town. The kids are just as muted in annoyance as the people Billy’s age are in excitement.
Shoes squeak on linoleum, and the hallways are filled with the rhythm of slamming lockers and melodramatic hushes of secret admirers. True love. Broken hearts. Longing…
The muscles of Billy’s cheek pull at the corner of his lip, yet his lips are dry, and the beginning hum of a cackle is yet to be resuscitated in his throat. This is just a residual reaction; Billy knows this somewhere in the back of his mind because it happens from time to time.
He was standing there, in that very hallway, with an arm leaning over a head of long blonde hair that reeked of hairspray and speckled green eyes. Or maybe they were a golden brown. He doesn’t know; the allure in them and the girl’s pretty smile was lost to him. The lockers were hard, and the metal was shooting pins and needles up his arm. Despite the cushion of a jacket, pain bloomed its thorns into the point of his elbow. Yet the pumping vessel beneath his chest bone was receiving the brunt of it.
Because you were there. Just feet away from him. With a dainty hand fiddling with the golden chain of a butterfly necklace—the one Billy had given you just months before—as a large smile was plastered on your face. It was genuine, Billy had noted, because it dared to shatter your complexion. Your wide eyes crinkled. Moisture stuck to your lashes—no, your lips didn’t dare to let go.
You were so happy. You were so goddamn happy, standing there with another man as the center of your focus, as the reflection in your eyes. The gloss of your irises captured better than film technology—how he brushed the stubborn baby hair away from your temple or how his lips spoke of words only you could understand—for it relayed your giggles and other quirks upon the entirety of your features.
Billy’s tortured bone was sending distress signals to his brain, wanting a rest. Billy hadn’t listened to it. He wanted to snap that lanky brunet’s long, slender fingers. The ones that rested on the edge of your scalp were too chicken shit to run and grasp a bit of hair to be brought in for a velvet kiss and never let go until you’re both gasping for air.
Those hands have never worked a day in their life, Billy could tell. Never had to work summers in a humid garage or on somebody’s lawn for some spending money. No, Jimbo would never leave you breathless, but at least you’d be comfortable. Bored, but never worried, nonetheless. He’d give you what Billy never could.
Billy’s fingers mindlessly reach for that same elbow that now thrums in vague feeling. He rubs it, and the callus from handling tools is rough on his skin. God, he wants to laugh. He wants to cackle just as he wanted to cackle in that school hallway. Cackle like he’s got nothing to worry about too, like you meant nothing to him. Cackle because it was just too easy to forget all about you.
Instead, everything blurred, and everything became muffled, and not because he had been engulfed by your plush lips. You didn’t allow Billy the freedom of resuming his affair with this blonde girl, and yet her talking had continued. Going on and on about nail polish—or was it about Madonna’s newest hit? He doesn’t remember what she’d been so interested in, or why stubbornness persisted within her interest in him when Billy was so obviously under another girl’s spell.
You were there. Just a few feet away. With some brunet shorter and thinner than him. Playing with the butterfly necklace Billy had bought for you with the cash he earned, acting as a gardener for his next-door neighbors during spring break. And you were smiling, two months after you had found purple and red hickeys along Billy’s neck and torso for the second time since becoming official. You were now smiling after having screamed and sobbed and pounded on Billy’s bare chest with your fists and watched him turn defensive—listened to him tell you that you didn’t satisfy his needs, you didn’t put out enough, you just weren’t enough.
You walked out on him and became both deaf and blind. Never answered the incessant ringer of a house phone. Deleted voicemails before Billy’s voice could utter more than two syllables. Donated and hid some of the belongings he left behind in the back of your closet, like his worn Metallica’s Ride the Lightning record. And you never allowed your gaze to fall upon him for more than a couple seconds, no matter how much your eyes stung and begged to stare just a little bit longer.
And, ironically, Billy did too. His grades were worsening from assignments that were lost in the black hole of his backpack. Other girls were not as appealing as before, no matter how attractive they were and continue to be. Billy can pretend sometimes, however; he was pretending to like that blonde and he almost believed he did until you popped up into his peripheral. Most of the time, Billy couldn’t conjure an ounce of care when things weren’t about you. But he’d like to be quite deaf and blind to that fact too.
The hallway light suddenly flickers through the bottom crack of his bedroom door. Socked feet thread not-so-carefully down the wooden flooring. They forget about the creaky panels that tend to disturb the rest of the household. It’s Max, who has a habit of waking in the middle of the night to fill up on a refreshing glass of water. She must have forgotten to leave a filled cup on her bedside table, Billy thinks.
Billy’s throat itches, and he almost calls out to Max for a glass as well. Almost, before the memory of your eyes suck him back into the bottomless pit of nostalgia. Billy finds that he can’t do much these days except loosen up the tension in his muscles, give up the flailing, and just sink. Drown. His throat itches, and yet he will wait until morning, until he’s only got fifteen minutes to spare before the first bell.
A glass clinks as it lands in the metal sink. The same padded feet trek back into the hallway until the light no longer emits a glow beneath his door and another door down the hall clicks close.
For now, he stays, resting on his back, caught up in a web that enslaves him from sleep. He can kick off the blankets that are entangled with his legs, but, just like they don’t provide much warmth these days, it doesn’t do much in lessening the phantom grasp on him.
And the night grows colder as the rain pummels against his window now, and he wonders if, on the other side of town, the rain beats against your bedroom window as well. The moonlight striking on Billy’s face reflects the streams on the glass like tears upon his cheeks, but he cannot produce tears of his own. He simply stares into distance as his brain produces the same haunting images.
Of your smile. Of the silver butterfly necklace—how it still shines from a soft cleanser. Of how you looked exactly the same as the first day Billy met you, only except it wasn’t him who you were sharing intimacy with. It was some other guy who just wouldn’t stop touching you.
Sometimes Billy wishes he could do the simplest things, laugh and cry and get angry—anything to shake off the stranger he has become.
(y/n) was leaning against Steve’s car in Starcourt Mall’s parking lot, the window cracked open a little as the car shook. An older couple walked by when the car jerked and someone cursed. They looked at the car, then gave (y/n) an odd look.
“Hi, how are you all doing tonight?” (y/n) asked, crossing her arms, they didn’t reply and kept walking, she turned and called, “Steve, would you hurry up, we’re going to miss the movie!”
In the car, Steve was struggling to put on his jeans as he replied, “We can miss the previews, don’t worry!” (y/n) grumbled and leaned back on the car again.
“I don’t see why you have to change, I don’t mind being seen with you in your scoops uniform,” she stated, Steve scoffed.
“I mind,” he said, finally getting his pants on and buttoning it. He opened the car door now, she grabbed it and pulled it more open for him, revealing her boyfriend, hair an absolute mess. He leaned downward to put his shoes back on, then looked up at (y/n), who was just staring at him, he smirked and said, “Stop checking me out or we’re going to miss the movie.” (y/n) blinked and rolled her eyes as he got out, and locked and closed the door. He held his hand out for her to take. She took it, their fingers lacing together as they returned to the mall for their movie date.
At this time of night the mall was still quite packed with shoppers, they had to navigate through the crowd while still holding hands to make it to the theater. (y/n) had bought the tickets earlier in the day so they wouldn’t have to wait in the long line and just go in and pick their seats.
Because it was a late showing, and on a school night for those still in school, she was hoping it wasn’t so packed so they could get their back row seats and kiss a little without someone to her immediate left or something.
They were a few weeks into their relationship, so it was fairly new and she’d never been in an actual relationship before, hadn’t even thought about it until she started to talk to Steve, someone she liked to avoid in high school, because her closest friend Robin worked and they became friends. Of course, that meant they had to see each other often, and one thing led to another, and here they were, standing in line at the snack bar holding hands while he whispered about how he can’t wait to pretend to watch a movie when they’re actually going to make out.
God he made her so happy.
“Down boy,” (y/n) said as they approached the cashier, Steve stuck out his bottom lip then chuckled as he pulled out his wallet.
“It’s payday, get whatever you want, I’m buying,” he said smugly, (y/n) was going to decline and pay for it herself, but then he added, “Also you paid for the tickets so it’s only fair.”
They got a large drink to share, a medium popcorn, and some licorice. Steve grabbed the peanut M&M’s, setting them down on the counter and said, “I know you’re going to make me go buy you some in the middle of the movie.”
“You know me so well,” (y/n) said as he winked. They got their snacks, and started to walk towards the theater their movie was being shown in. Steve walked a little ahead in order to open the door for her, (y/n) was about to enter when someone got in her way, leaving the theater.
“Oh sorry-” she started to apologize but stopped when she saw it was Billy Hargrove. Instantly her face flushed, she hadn’t seen him since she quit her life guard job at the pool when she got the job at the GAP, it meant more hours, more money, and less sitting in the sun. Thinking of the time she spent with him there made her inwardly cringe, and the surprise then smug look in his eyes said he was reminded of it too.
“Are you going to move Hargrove or are you going to stand there like an idiot?” Steve deadpanned, letting go of the door, not wanting to hold it open for that guy. (y/n) took a step large step back, and Billy pushed the door open, glancing at Steve then at (y/n) incredibly amused.
“Well shit, are you two here together?” he asked, (y/n) put on a straight face and Steve didn’t hide the look of distaste on his features.
“None of your damn business, get out of the way,” Steve said, Billy licked his lips as he looked at (y/n), making Steve clench the drink in his hand tightly.
“You know I’m a better time than him, (y/n),” he smirked as her eyes widened, he reached out and almost touched her chin, to which Steve dropped the candy in his other hand, and instantly caught his arm, shoving it aggressively back down.
“Back off, Hargrove,” Steve growled, Billy chuckled.
“What are you going to do about it then Harrington?” he taunted, Steve’s face hardened angrily. (y/n) reached out and put her hand on Steve’s shoulder, saying, “Steve, come on, he’s just being an asshole per usual.” She glared at him, Billy clicked his tongue and she sucked in a breath in an attempt to keep her temper as ease.
Steve eased off when she did so, and nodded, (y/n) didn’t give Billy another look as she walked by him with head up high, Steve shoved Billy in the shoulder when he walked in.
The previews were still playing, and just as she suspected there was hardly anyone in here, scattered across the theater. They chose to see in one of the side seats in the corner, (y/n) by the wall and Steve by the aisle.
“I can’t fucking stand him,” Steve grumbled angrily as they sat down, “He doesn’t know when to to shut his damn mouth.” (y/n) chuckled nervously and nodded.
“I agree,” she replied, still feeling her heart beating out of her chest. Steve looked at her, and tilted his head curiously because he noticed how timid and overly annoyed (y/n) had become, plus she wouldn’t look at him, just staring blankly at the screen.
“Hey, did he really bother you because I can do something about it you know,” Steve said as he wrapped an arm around her, (y/n) leaned into him and replied, “Oh-no, well yeah- but uh-” She wasn’t sure what to say, not wanting to tell her boyfriend who happens to hate Billy like she did, if not more, that she hooked up with him not once, but twice during her time as a life guard. Once in the showers after hours, another in his car in that same week in front of her house. After that one week, they made out once or twice and she started, much to her dismay, like him. Of course, she found out he was hooking up with another life guard the same time as her, and she stopped seeing him. He said some stuff to her, ones that pissed her off for months. God she hated him, but not more than she hated herself for allowing herself to sleep with him two times.
Steve stared at her, clearly seeing her struggle to the find the words, it took Steve a moment to figure out why, and when he thought he did, he raised a brow and said, “What did he mean when he said that you knew he was better than me, which we know is a lie,” he added, (y/n) half-smiled at that because it was true, “Did you two used to date or something?” He said it in a joking tone.
(y/n)’s smile and eyes fell and so did Steve’s small grin.
“Oh...oh shit,” Steve said, blinking rapidly and looking down for a moment to take in this new information. (y/n) perked up and looked back at him, “We didn’t date, it was just- it was stupid and- it was before I even met you, well officially anyway! I haven’t talked to him since, oh god you’re gonna think differently of me-”
Steve shook his head, “No- why would I? I mean, I hate the guy, but I’m not going to judge you on your past uhhh relationships? I mean- it was Billy, which is-”
“Oh god you are judging me and I don’t blame you,” (y/n) almost cried, Steve shook his head once more.
“I’m not!” he said, perhaps a little too loudly because the group of teens sitting a few rows in front of them turned around, Steve cringed and turned back to (y/n) who had her hands in her hair, completely embarrassed, “Hey, you’re with me now, I don’t care who you were with in the past, even if it was Hargrove.”
(y/n) dropped her hands down to her lap, and let out a sigh, “That’s good to hear, just you need to know that it was nothing, and I absolutely can’t stand him too.”
“Then why did-”
“It was a dark time okay, it was so hot, I was probably dehydrated or something, I don’t know,” she was rambling now and Steve chuckled, leaning in to kiss her on the lips.
“I got it, we all make mistakes,” he teased, (y/n) smiled weakly and nodded, “Let’s just forget about it and watch the movie, or whatever scenes we can watch when we take a break from this.” He caught her lips in his again, making her melt in her seat. His kisses always managed to take her breath away. He leaned away slightly, and she nodded dreamily.
“Okay,” she replied.
Talking with Steve made her feel better because he was right, it was in the past and it wasn’t like she was talking with him. That was the first interaction she’s had since then with him, and ever since she started dating Steve it was like some kind of bad memory. Throughout the movie, or their make out sessions, she didn’t notice that Billy was sitting in the same row, arm wrapped around another girl who he managed to ignore half the night, glancing over at (y/n) and Steve to roll his eyes.
After the movie was over, Steve and (y/n) threw their trash away, and as they began to leave, walking past Billy and his date, (y/n) didn’t even look at him, her arm hooked with Steve’s as he suggested they see another movie since he didn’t want the night to be over.
“Well there’s still the backseat of your car,” (y/n) said suggestively, making Steve smirk and begin to walk faster.
That bothered him, a lot. He left his date, stalking after the both of them.
(y/n) and Steve didn’t even know, not until he spoke, “You like having my sloppy seconds Harrington?”
His words hit (y/n) instantly, Steve took a moment to fathom what he just said, and they both turned around, Billy tucked his hands into the pockets of his leather jacket and said, “I promise she won’t moan your name like she did mine.” His eyes flickered to (y/n)’s, “Isn’t that right princess? Where was it, the shower, then my car- that was my favorite-”
“What the fuck do you want Billy?” (y/n) snapped before Steve could, Billy grinned widely.
“Oh you know what I want-” Billy bit his lip, and (y/n)’s fists clenched, “Come on, you know you want me again. Why are you with pretty boy Harrington when you had me?”
“Fuck you!”
“You already did. Twice.”
At that point, (y/n) was fuming and Steve was about ready to attack Billy in the middle of this hallway in the theater, but to his surprise (y/n) had slapped him. His head turned to the side, the slap echoing down the hall and others standing in the snack line's heads turned to see what just happened.
Billy’s turned his head back to look at her, “Always the feisty one.”
Steve had enough, going between her and Billy, “Enough Hargrove, she doesn’t fucking like you so how about you go cry about it somewhere else in private.” Billy chuckled.
“Oh she liked a whole lot of me, Harrington,” he winked, Steve pushed him harshly backwards that he stumbled and grabbed (y/n) by the wrist gently.
“Come on,” he said, and (y/n) agreed, satisfied with the slap she gave him. It felt like therapy, really. They started to walk away, but then he decided to open his mouth again.
“When you’re done being disappointed by Harrington, I’ll be here waiting for you princess,” he said it so smugly and at that moment (y/n) just lost her temper, turning around and practically about to run at him, but Steve was fast, wrapping an arm around her waist and saying, “He’s just trying to get a rise out of you, (y/n)!”
Billy looked amused at that, wanting Steve to let her go, but Steve kept a firm grip, even though he wanted to see him get punched in the face this time by his girlfriend, but they were in the middle of a hallway with others looking at them, probably about to get kicked out at any second.
Billy didn’t say anything, eyes glimmering with excitement for some reason. Now Steve wanted to be the one to punch that look off his face. Fuck that guy, really. (y/n) let out a sigh, and looked at Steve, “Let’s just go.” Steve nodded, shooting Billy a glare before they finally left, this time with Billy not saying anything.
When they were out of the theater, and mall, still holding hands, Steve couldn’t help but say, “You slept with that guy twice?” (y/n), who was still mad, looked at Steve with wide eyes.
“You said you wouldn’t judge,” she said, frowning deeply. Steve shook his head.
“And like I said I’m not! Just god he’s such an asshole, you must’ve been really dehydrated,” he said with a shake of his head.
“I know, I’m so embarrassed,” she admitted, “Also don’t tell Robin,” she said, realizing what a mess that would be, Steve was being oddly nice and nonchalant about it but she knew Robin would roast her to death and she wasn’t ready for that.
Steve laughed, “I won’t, I promise!” (y/n) sighed.
“I totally ruined the night.”
“No you didn’t, he did, nobody told him to say shit like that,” he said as he leaned on the hood of his car, pulling (y/n) against him, her hands resting on his chest, “I’ve dealt with that prick before, you know, and I’ll deal with him more if it means defending you and your honor- even though you clearly don’t need it.” He referred to the slap, and her almost pouncing the guy. (y/n) chuckled.
“I don’t want to get banned from the theater for punching him,” she said, Steve nodded.
“That would be rough,” he rested his hands on her waist, leaning in to kiss her. She kissed him back, resting her hands on his shoulders before moving them to meet at the back of his neck, pulling him closer to her to deepen their kiss, “Then again, we can still kiss like this anywhere else.”
“Clearly,” (y/n) said, pecking him on the lips, she leaned away for a second, looking at Steve very lovingly, “He was a mistake, Steve, from a time in my life I’d rather forget. I...I love you.”
Steve looked pleasantly surprised by her words, cheeks turning slightly red, and he smiled, “I love you too.”
They kissed once more, deeper than the first time and only stopped because a group of teens whistled. (y/n) felt her cheeks heat up, kissing in the dark in the back of the theater was different than kissing out in the open like this, Steve chuckled and moved forward, saying, “What did you say about the backseat before Hargrove interrupted?”
(y/n) smirked and said, “You know what I said.”
Very quickly the both of them got into the car, Steve speeding out of the parking lot attempting to park somewhere where they can get a little damn privacy.
“Wait so Billy actually asked you out.” Nancy squealed. “Yes I know.” You jumped up and down. “You know even though he is an asshole he has been the first guy that has actually been into me for real he made it clear the first time we met.” You said. “Anyway I need my lucky necklace for tomorrow” You said. “I think I left it in the basement.” You said as you walked towards the basement door. You opened it and quickly receded down the stairs to find El and Mike making out. “Y/N!” Mike yelled. “My lips are sealed.” You put your hands up. “Ah there it is.” You sighed in relief. “Your lucky necklace.” Mike questioned. “Yes my lucky necklace.” You scoffed. “Your going on a date again?” Mike asked. “Everytime she gets her lucky necklace it’s usually because she is going on a date.” Mike informed El. “Is it with Billy?” El asked. “Yes.” You said. “Even after he tried to kill Lucas and Steve.” Mike groaned. “Cut him some slack ok he is nicer when you get to know him.” You defended him. “I don't care.” Mike said. “He tried to hurt Lucas.” Mike repeated. “Ok bye kids don’t have too much fun.” You say walking up the stairs to avoid this conversation.
You went in your room looking through your closet to start picking out an outfit tomorrow. That's when you heard a knock on your window. It was Steve. You opened your window and Steve jumped. “You sure learned how to get the hang of it. You know, climbing on to knock.” You grinned. “Steve why are you here people are going to get the wrong idea.” You groaned. “Look Dustin really thinks I'm this humongous player, and I know a lot about girls but I've only been in love with one.” Steve admitted. “I don't think it matters who you have been in love with.” You say. “The real question is how many girls' hearts have you broken?” You say. “In other words how many girls have you had sex with and then never talked to them again?” You asked. “Well..” Steve paused. “Exactly.” You said. “Now just give Dustin the same advice as you did that one day.” You said. “Make sure he is not too desperate. That isn’t appealing to girls.” You informed.
“Now I need your help.” You say. Steve sat on your bed. “What is all this?” Steve asked. “So as I have told you before, me and whose name you told me not to mention again, are going on a date tomorrow.” You chuckle. “You could say his name, I don't care.” Steve said. “I know but this makes it sound so mysterious, and mysterious is hot.” You said. “Wait let me write that down.” Steve said. “Mysterious is hot.” Steve repeated pretending to write it down. You rolled your eyes. “Ok so here is outfit number one.” You point to one of your outfits on the bed. “It shows a good amount of cleavage, some leg, but still decent enough to wear it out and not cause problems.” You say. “Outfit two..” You began when suddenly a door opened. “Y/N Jonathon asked if I could..” Nancy paused when she saw Steve. “Hi Steve.” Nancy said. “Hi Nance.” Steve looked down. You walked out of the room into the hallway. “Why is Steve in there?” Nancy asked. “He is helping me choose an outfit.” you said. “Jonathon asked me to go somewhere with him but mom left me in charge to watch the baby. Can I leave you to do that?” Nancy asked. “Please Y/N” Nancy pleaded. “Ok sure” You groaned. “Thanks love you.” Nancy ran out the door. “Ok Steve I..” You noticed he wasn't there anymore poor Steve. He was really heartbroken.
The next morning went by slow. It was a big day for all of you. Mike going to the snowball, Nancy helping out at the snowball, and you ditching the snowball to go on a date with Billy. “You decided to start getting ready.” You put on makeup to your satisfaction. Then tried on the three different outfits multiple times. You decided on the first outfit and before you knew it was 6:00 and Billy should be here to pick you up. Suddenly you heard a door ringing and ran to the door and opened it. “Ready.” Billy smirked. He wasn’t dressed with a tuxedo; he insisted it be a casual date.
You got in his car and he drove to the restaurant. “So I asked and many recommended this restaurant.” Billy said. “We could be the first dash and diners.” Billy smirked. “Billy I could always pay if you don't have enough money” You offered. “Y/N I was just joking.” Billy frowned. “Ok Im sorry.” You said.
You walked into the restaurant and it was mostly older couples or families. “For two please” You told the barista and she sat you down. “This is so fancy.” You gasped. “I'm impressed Billy.” You smirked. “Is it too fancy for the Wheeler.” Billy jokes. “Yes most of my meals are home cooked.
“Would you guys like to start with drinks.” The waiter said. “I’ll have a beer.” Billy said. “I’ll take an Ice Tea” You said. “We don't have ice tea.” The waiter said. “Then a coke.” You said. “Allright.” The waiter jotted down our order and left. “It's ok if I have a beer right?” Billy asked. “It's fine only one because I can't drive.” You said.
Once the waiter came back, ordered your favorite and Billy ordered a burrito. Once the food was ready, you guys both sat in silence eating. “Billy, I'm having fun but I don’t want this to end.” You whined. Billy chuckled. “Who said it's going to end.” Billy smirked. “So what's next?” You smiled. “It's a surprise.” Billy said. So you guys left the restaurant and he drove you to an empty hillside. He took out a blanket from his trunk and laid it down. “Billy this is amazing.” You smile. “Oh I know.” He smirked. You hugged him. You both laid down and were wrapped in his arms. “Your beautiful Y/N” Billy said. “Oh I know.” You mimicked him. Billy chuckled. “That's my girl.” He pecks your lips. “How did you know I love the stars.” You asked Billy. “Doesn’t every girl?” Billy said. “Yes but do they own a telescope and know all the constellations.” You said, “I don't know.” Billy said. “Wait, don't tell me your one of those girls who believes in astrology” Billy scoffed. “If I was.” You sat up and crossed your arms. “My mom use to believe in astrology.” Billy sat up. “She would tell me about my sign.” Billy gulped. You hugged Billy. “You know what the stars are saying right now.” You smiled. “What?” Billy asked softly. “That we should do this.” You said as you grabbed his face and pulled him in for a kiss. “I like what the stars say.” Billy smirked as he gave in.
“Oh shit what time is it.” Billy suddenly stopped. You checked your watch. “It's 12:00” You said. “I have to pick up Max.” Billy jumped. You both quickly picked up the blanket and jumped in the car and Billy sped through the streets. When you got there you could see Nancy and Steve inside cleaning up and Mike, Will and Jonathon were inside as well, and wait was that Dustin? His hair looked different, like Steve, you chuckled a little. You couldn’t see Max. “Where is that little shit.” Billy growled. “I'm sure she is in there.” You said. “Do you want me to go check?” You offered. “No I will go.” Billy said as he roughly parked his car and turned it off. He got off and you followed.
“Billy.” Max said as she saw him walk in. “Hurry up say bye to your friends, I'm going to be outside smoking a cigarette.” Billy told Max as he walked outside. “Y/N how was your date?” Nancy asked. “It was fun.” You smiled. “Really with him.” Steve questioned. “Yes he is different when he is on a date.” You said. “How was the dance.” You asked. “Boring serving punches to ungrateful teenagers is not fun.” Nancy scoffed. “Mike has a girlfriend now, permanent.” Nancy laughed. “He's growing up.” You chuckled as you looked at Mike and El. “They are perfect for eachother.” Nancy said. “Yeah I'm going to say bye to Billy mind if I get a ride with you?” You asked Nancy. “No.” Nancy said.
You walked out the gym and saw Billy smoking a cigarette. “Billy, thank you for tonight it was fun.” You said. “I had fun too babe.” Billy smiled. “No get some rest tomorrow Im picking you up.” Billy said. “Ok” You smiled. “I'm going to get a ride with Nancy.” You informed him. “Ok, see you tomorrow.” Billy said. “Dont miss me too much.” You smiled. “Oh baby you know I will.” Billy smirked you gave him a kiss. “Ew gross.” Max joked. You blushed a litte.
