Ao3 links are still being funky, but here's your gift @frandomly-trash. Let me know if you want this gifted to you on Ao3 as well! You asked for Jadzia/Kira phaser action plot. I hope I delivered! Thank you to @startrekwintergiftexchange for hosting this event!
Summary:
Kira and Jadzia were sent to explore an abandoned station. Turns out it wasn't empty after all.
The fic:
As phaser fire turns her previous cover to vapor, Kira manages to duck behind a wall. She quickly looks around. Jadzia had jumped in the opposite direction. Jadzia presses her own back against the wall she bounded behind. She’s staring down the direction of phaser fire, not even casting a glance in Kira’s direction. It’s smart. Focused.
Kira’s eyes catch movement above. Her head shoots up. There’s two more cardassians on the second level!
Two shots. One for each. Only a single cardassian lets out a pained groan. He falls forward, dropping over the second floor’s ledge. His body lands at Jadzia’s feet.
Jadzia jumps up instead of back.
This time she looks right at Kira, head tilted in such a way that her questioning gaze couldn’t be missed. Kira gestures with the point of her phaser at the second level. There’s still one more up top.
The two on the ground level shout something that sounds like orders. Kira’s spent her whole life hearing orders being given out. Kill those bajorans, whip the others, blow that temple to smithereens. She may not have been able to pick out what these exact orders are but she can guess.
Kill them.
That’s always the gist of it. Every cardassian’s order brings about more death.
Kira lays down fire at the cardassian moving up top. They curse as they duck down. It’s music to Kira’s ears.
Deep breath. Hold it for two, let it go, and move! Kira pushes herself off of her wall as Jadzia reaches around her own and lets loose a round of fire. There’s the sound of something heavy falling. Whether they’re dead, or just ducking, Kira can’t tell. Jadzia had been firing partially blind. She’s a great shot, but Kira’s always erred on the side of caution in a firefight. Well as cautious as you can be.
She can’t see the one up top anymore.
Kira swears. The bastard is probably aiming for Jadzia.
Running with her instincts, Kira darts out from behind the safety of her cover. There’s a rounded desk with a better look at the second floor. It’s a mad dash through the open area. Phasers fly from behind her and rain down from above. She rolls through one of the two openings on the side of the circular desk. Its center is hollowed out for whoever would typically be manning it. Metal smacks against her back as she rolls onto her knees.
She pushes through the pain to land in a crouched position dead center of the desk. Kira immediately raises her gun towards the second floor. The cardassian above was still aiming at Jadzia. Probably thought there was no way the other two would miss Kira. It had been a reckless move, she’ll give them that, but so was staying so focused on Jadzia alone.
Kira aims for their chest. Their finger was tracing the trigger, getting ready to fire. They might already have Jadzia in their sights.
“Hey!” She shouts. It’s enough of a surprise to make them move their phaser as they raise their head. Kira fires. So does the cardassian.
This one falls back instead of forward as they drop. To be safe, Kira fires four more blasts. Two hit. The knee, and the head. There’s no way they’re coming back from that. Good.
The others would drop dead too if they knew what was good for them.
The back of the desk slams against her back. The force was enough to knock her forward. Kira’s shoulder collides with one of the metal legs in front of her.
Kira braces one hand against her shoulder. A pained wheeze escapes her. They must’ve shot at the desk so many times it was launched forward.
“Kira!” Jadzia’s voice cuts through the pain.
Kira scoots over. Keeping her body hidden as she literally risks her head to see what’s happening. Jadzia forgoes her own cover in favor of shooting clearer shots.
Two shots. One for each of the cardassians. The first shot hits one in the back, the second right in the back of the head. Jadzia’s on her feet, running over to the central desk.
Seconds. That’s all it takes for Jadzia to end this fight. Maybe she’s a better shot than Kira assumed. Dax is lucky to have her as a host.
With the cardassians down, Jadzia starts to walk back. She keeps her phaser pointed at the dead pair. They don’t dare to move. Not even a spasming twitch as their souls leave them.
When Jadzia reaches the desk she crouches down, her legs on either side of Kira’s. Her knees almost touch the floor. There’s just enough space to launch herself right back up in case she needs to. Happy for the fight to be over, but still ready to keep it up should the need arise. The sweat on her face drips slowly as if it’s scared to fall and give away Jadzia’s position. Kira has been fighting her whole life. She doesn’t deny it when others accurately call her a terrorist, but Jadzia, battle-worn, fierce, brilliant Jadzia. She’s a warrior. A beautiful, skilled woman who effectively has Kira pinned beneath her.
Phaser still in hand, Jadzia presses her empty hand, and the palm of her occupied one against Kira’s face. Jadzia leans in close. Her eyes searching every inch of Kira’s face. Her voice is a careful whisper as she asks, “Are you alright?”
“Yeah, just sore.”
Jadzia shakes her head. “I thought a former resistance cell member would know better than-”
Kira launches herself into the kiss the same way she does an attack. With enough force to get where she needs to land her hit. Jadzia backs up just enough to keep their noses from bumping as their lips collide. Then she lowers her head down pushing back.
Never admitting defeat.
Jadzia’s hands move across Kira’s back. Slowly she shifts their position lowering the injured woman to the floor. Kira twists so her good shoulder rests on the ground first. Jadzia lets her, keeping her lips preoccupied as she settles.
Jadzia sits comfortably over Kira’s stomach. Her weight rested mostly on her knees.
When she pulls away, Kira is left breathless.
“That was reckless.”
It was. It really was, but Kira might do something even more reckless if Jadzia doesn’t get her lips back down here.
“I know.” Kira runs one hand along the back of Jadzia’s neck. “You are amazing.”
Jadzia smiles, her dark hair highlighting the little bit of color in her cheeks. “I know.”
Damn. Those bureaucrats had no idea what they were doing sending her as the executive officer for Deep Space Nine. They had no idea. Thank the prophets for it.
