St Moses was a Coptic saint who lived 330-405 a.d. He started life as a slave and was cast off from his master for theft, became a leader of thieves who robbed the Bedouins who traversed the desert.When he was converted his former gifts for theft and leadership were converted into a powerful blessing. When Berbers chose to attack him in his monastic cell he rounded on them, took them to the chapel where his fellow monks were praying, and asked ‘What should we do with these people?’ Thus his rather un-monastic sense of the immediate remained intact....
