It was a tough last summer in Canada for a few reasons. With a little help from our family, friends and mother nature (amazing weather!) we finished our long awaited cabin. It took 2 summers of cutting and clearing before our project really even began. M and I have dreamed about this cordwood project for years. Researching, planning, working, drawing and re-drawing. I am so lucky that he was as excited about this whole process as I was. He could have easily wanted to invest in our future elsewhere, since he probably won't be spending a ton of time here in the foreseeable future. So with a baby strapped to my back, husband worked to the bone, and a little naked boy running almost feral - to many people’s surprise we finished by summer’s end! We gained an incredible amount of knowledge that we will take with us. Rob Roy probably wouldn't approve of all our best practices, but we came under budget and found some creative solutions to do so. It was so important for us to have a place that we could always call home in Canada. Especially the little ones. We want nothing but health and happiness for our children. Having strong ties in my home land will give them more opportunity and choice in the future. In the meantime ... here’s a peak at our success and some moments from an unforgettable summer. Cheers!
