(Eisley, 2007 Warehouse Live-too awkward to be in a photo WITH them, even though they offered, haha)
Eisley has been my favorite band for nearly ten years. My devotion and belief in them has never wavered. I was handed their Marvelous Things EP as a junior in High School, from a friend whose father knew a lawyer that knew the band (or something even more ambiguous).
I put it in the tired, cranky CD player of my 96 Buick and it jammed it immediately. It wedged itself deep inside of the slot and refused to eject. I wanted to be furious, but after hearing the first track i knew i'd never remove it anyway.
Years later, when I sold the Buick, i forfeited extra money on the trade in value so that i could claw the Marvelous Thing out of the radio. I still have it, and would break every nail and two of my favorite drawing markers all over again if it meant freeing it.
You guys, they are the real deal. They have been around more than many of the bands they tour with (despite being referred to recently as "best new band" or whatever). They have paid their dues to the major label death-eaters, ridden cross-country in cramped/AC-less tour vans ( some while PREGNANT, Y'ALL), and most importantly, continuously put out albums that wildly exceed expectation.
Despite my ridiculous and nearly debilitating awkwardness/social anxiety, I've been very blessed to interview them, meet them on many occasions, and be a part of their street team. Every time that i've spoken with them, their parents, and extended family they have been unflinchingly kind, gracious and humble (which let us not forget, is not a requirement, nor the norm these days!)
These precious humans are TRYING to get out there and see their fans. I've seen so many people beg for them to "come back and see them in Australia, Europe, or *insert obscure US town here*" on twitter, and they can and will with our help!
Imagine the cost of traveling by yourself with one large suitcase abroad. Now, add four more band members, four babies, spouses, crew, merch, instruments, multiple towns, countries, food, board, diapers, taxes, gas, etc. It adds up.
It is such an exciting time that we live in that will allow us to directly help support a group of artists that we believe in. If you "vote with your dollar", well, then I voted Eisley one-hundred times. Give what you can. If you do, even a dollar, you will know when you see their name on the marquee in your town, that you helped make that happen!
I voted. Fan? Kind human looking to support sweet people? Lover of bands that actually write their own songs? Looking to just throw your money around to show how awesomely loaded you are?
