hiiiiiiii! I will be in Barcelona next month (for the first time ever and am very excited!) and I’ll be going to Portugal to watch the UWCL Final too!
i am also going to the last game of the season against Athletic Club at the Johan and was wondering if you could give me any advice about game day etc. i haven’t been to a game before and im very excited but don’t want to miss out on anything or do anything wrong!
(and if you have any recommendations for Barcelona or Portugal absolutely love to hear them!)
love your blog btw :)
hi anon - thanks for your kind words. 🫶 some of your questions are answered in my FAQ. estadi johan cruyff is an intimate stadium that serves as the home for femení and is located next to the ciutat esportiva joan gamper training complex for barça. it's not very big and it's easily accessible via public transportation or taxis/ubers.
as to your question, there's really nothing you can do "wrong" except maybe show up late and miss an early goal! 😅 but here are some tips:
i would suggest getting there at least an hour early to watch player warm-ups and see any pre-match programming. sometimes there will be mini-concerts or performances before the match. and cat culer may even show up 😽
showing up early can also let you walk around the stadium, perhaps check out any displays or promotions. right now, the skin care company rilastil has been having a display with promotional products to try.
you will have an assigned seat number. the exact seating will be sent to you closer to game day. it's not general seating. you might see some fans getting up early before the end of the match to move closer to the field to try and get things signed. don't be one of those people who blocks out another fan. and just be respectful.
there are some cafes outside of the stadium within a 5-10 minute walk of johan or you can get food, drink, and snacks from concessions within the stadium. there are vegetarian options available too.
have fun and perhaps learn some chants so you can sing along with the rest of the culers! 💙 ❤️
