How do permanents with an X cost interact with spells that target them when they're on the battlefield after resolving? Is X then 0 or the value which it was cast at?
Once they’re on the battlefield, X is 0.

If a goblin I control is blocked while I control Ib Halfheart but it has trample, how does damage (both combat from the blocked goblin and the four being dealt by Ib's ability) then interact with the opponent?
The trample won’t matter since the Goblin is sacrificed before combat damage is dealt.
