hi!!!! i’m very reallly really sorgy to bother but if possible could you do a tut on how you make stamps ? i’m having a hard time with mine and was looking for tuts but couldn’t find any good ones… i really adore yr stuff!!!!! again, very VERY sorry to bother please have a good day !!!!!!!!! ^_^
THANK YOUU!! this isn't a bother at all ^^ i'm more than happy to share how i make my stamps!!
SORRY THAT IT TOOK ME A FEW DAYS TO ANSWER THIS ASK BTW!! i put a lot of thought into how to format this tutorial in a way that would make sense
DO let me know if any of this is unclear/if you need more clarification on anything, as this is my first time making a tutorial like this
quick note: im going to be using photopea for this tutorial!! it'll be different depending on what app you use (i'd be willing to make tutorials for other apps too, although i dont think apps like ibis paint x allow for editing gifs)
tutorial is below the cut since it's pretty long
(obviously) get your stamp base(s) and the images/gifs that you want to use for the stamp
a small note on this step, make sure the stamp bases you find are free to use. there have been multiple cases of stamps being reuploaded onto here & other apps when the original creator did not allow for reuploads
2. once you've found a suitable base and images, first import the stamp base & stamp images into photopea. make sure that the layers with the images are BELOW the layer of the stamp base - also adjust the positioning of the image in the stamp to your liking
IF you're editing using gifs make sure that you've selected the WHOLE folder of frames, and not just a singular frame of the gif. selecting only one frame will ruin the flow of the gif. you can just use the undo button if you make this mistake (the undo button can be found on the interface at the top, under the "edit" section)
3. after you've put the stamp image below the base and adjusted it to your liking, is the image protruding out of the base like this?
WORRY NOT! I HAVE THE SOLUTION!
to fix this, we're going to overlay the gif into the border of the stamp. "how do you do this?" you ask? (assuming you asked this...)
first, take the brush tool. it can be found on the left of the interface
the brush tool looks like this btw
use the brush tool to color in ONLY the inside of the stamp. make sure it doesn't go outside of the borders of the stamp. the color you use doesn't matter btw
once you've colored it in like so, put the gif/image ABOVE the layer that you used the brush tool on
make the layer with the image/gif visible again. left click the layer that you used the brush tool on, and click select pixels
this is probably different for photopea on mobile, but ive only ever used photopea on computer 💔 SORRY IF ANY MOBILE USERS ARE READING THIS (if anyone knows the steps to doing this on mobile do feel free to add onto this tutorial)
after selecting the pixels, make sure you are on the layer with the image/gif. navigate to the top part of the interface that says "layer." once you're here, go to "raster mask" and click "reveal selection."
if you're editing using an image only, you can manually erase the image instead of doing all this. i find it easier to do this with images too, just because it feels tedious to manually erase an image like that
small note: gifs CANNOT be manually erased in the same way as images. this is due to the fact that it's basically just a bunch of frames compiled into one file (this is probably a known fact already, but i decided to add this in just to be safe)
4. once you're happy with how the stamp looks, export it!
to export something in photopea, do the following:
press file at the upper left corner
go to "export as"
choose whichever file type you prefer for the stamp. for me, i'm going to export it as a .gif file since the stamp uses a gif
THEN BOOM!!! VOILA!!! YOU NOW HAVE A STAMP!!!
this is how it looks in the end :) don't worry if the stamp looks pixelated!! it's normal, because stamps by default have very small rendering resolutions (i had another term for this in mind but i literally CANNOT remember what it was 😭)
i personally like using psds and overlays to color & texture the stamp if needed (if im making stamps on their own that don't go with a specific set of graphics, then i usually leave it without any texturing or psds)
this tutorial is already really long so i'm not gonna get into the steps of how i color my stamps 😅 BUT let me know if you want me to explain how i color them! i'd be more than happy to show you!!
once again, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! even though this is really long, i hope it was somewhat understandable
HAVE A GOOD DAY, EVENING, OR NIGHT! TOLETOLES OUT!
