Stan Davis Leads Anti-Bullying Workshop at LISD TECH Center
On January 20, 2014, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, retired guidance counselor and social worker, Stan Davis will be facilitating an anti-bullying workshop for Lenawee County educators, parents, and community members. The event is sponsored by Judge Gregg Iddings, Lenawee County Probate Court Judge.
Stan Davis has been passionately working on his anti-bullying campaign through his jobs as a counselor in elementary, middle, and high schools as well as his social work career. Starting in the mid-1990s when he was an elementary counselor, Stan focused his studies and energies toward helping schools prevent bullying. Stan’s work has been featured in radio, newspaper, and television articles and also in his books. He maintains the website, stopbullyingnow.com, a resource for parents, educators, and students.
The workshop that Davis will facilitate poses the question, “What can we do about bullying?” Community members and educators in attendance, will learn about ineffective anti-bullying techniques, supporting and empowering bullied youth, and how to reduce bullying behaviors. Davis will also teach real-world techniques for building up persecuted students, assessing strengths and needs of schools, and preventing harm when bullying is present.
Stan Davis’s workshop is for everyone and all community members are encouraged to attend. The educator’s session is from 8:30 am-3:30 pm and the parent’s session is from 6-8 pm. Both sessions will be held at the LISD TECH Center. Community members are welcome to attend either or both sessions. To register or for more information, go to www.solutionwhere.com/lisd.
The Hawk Takes a Wife - Stan Davis
Buzz: What'd you say to the warden before you left?
Carl: What do you mean?
Buzz: You know, when he asked you about what you're gonna do with your future and all of that bullshit.
Carl: Told him I was gonna go into the laundry business... You know what he said? Wished me all the luck in the world and he gave me a big-ass box of cigars.
