I am so happy we agree about the ending of TiMER. It was fucking bullshit. Oona should have been with Mickey i mean they were in love!! I was expecting some ending about how timers were a PIECE OF SHIT PLASTIC Nope. She ends up with hotty widow guy who is in love with her sister... That shits messed up but it WAS SUCH A GOOD MOVIE!! Dont you agree?
I know it really was an awesome movie! But you know, after sitting and thinking about the movie, I realized that I liked how it ended. I liked that Mickey and Oona had a relationship, a banging awesome relationship, and they worked together, and then the relationship ended. I liked how they had that awesome thing and lost it. I liked how it showed an amazing, supposed “once in a lifetime” love, and then showed that relationship ending. And I like how after they split the ending showed life moving on, and the beginning of a new relationship.
I liked how the entire movie was about finding your “soulmate”, and then it refuted the very idea. I don’t think Mikey was Oona’s soulmate, nor do I think Dan and Oona (potentially) ended up together at the end because they were soulmates.
I think Dan and Oona got together, not because they were soulmates, but because soulmates don’t exist. Because there are plenty of people that you’re compatible with, some that you’re REALLY compatible with, and the awesome thing about life is that it’s not assigned to you, you get to go choose one for yourself.
I think in the end, the timers were a piece of shit plastic. I think the people who made the timers were hella good business people, because they knew if they sold it people would believe it. I think it did match you to someone that showed to be compatible with you, and the people with the timers made the relationships work by themselves; not because the they were soulmates, but because they BELIEVED they were soulmates, and therefore it was worth working everything out if there was a fight, instead of throwing in the towel when things got hard.
The piece of shit plastic gave people the mindset to MAKE the person the timer set them up with their soulmate: to work things out, to feel safe to open up to them, to stand together with them and not let themselves be divided because they believed they were soulmates.
And because they believed they were soulmates, they became soulmates.
Also, there are plenty of movies where the people who fall in love for the first time stay together. I like that this movie is different.
