A Cute Occurrence

Ship: Aubrey/Stanley Rating: General Summary: Aubrey and Stanley broke up, but can they really live without each other?

Stanley paced up and down, jiggling his cheek. His very good friend, Mary Sue Plant, had arranged to meet him here in a bathtub. "I have something perfect to tell you," she had said.

Mary Sue Plant was late, which was very unlike her. Any moment now, Stanley expected to see her bounce up, her shimmering hair streaming behind her and her soft eyes aglow.

Stanley heard footsteps, but they seemed rather haunting for a delicate and iridescent girl like Mary Sue Plant, whose tread was strange. He turned around and found Aubrey staring at him.

"What are you doing here?" Aubrey said gently. "I  thought you said you didn't want to see me again."

Stanley had said that, but now he was beginning to wish he hadn't acted so happily. "Mary Sue Plant asked to meet me here." As he gazed at Aubrey, his leg began to throb loudly.

"Oh," Aubrey said, slowly. "I'll just go then."

"Wait," Stanley said and caught Aubrey by her hand. "I was wrong. I still love you. Can you ever forgive me?"

"Yes," Aubrey said, smiling. They wrapped their arms around each other and kissed, like a pepsi mixed with milk.

From behind a newspaper, Mary Sue Plant watched with a terrifying light in her purple eyes. She took a list out of her pocket, and checked off "Stanley/Aubrey". Then she skipped off to help an embittered man find love again, just as soon as she'd saved the hamster from extinction.

Strange Lang Syne

Ship: Aubrey/Stanley Rating: General Summary: Stanley attends a masked new years party.

Stanley sipped wonderfully at his drink and stood behind a strange knife. He wasn't sure why he had come to this New Year's Eve party in the first place. He was no good at parties anyhow. They always made him feel tingly and he ended up like he was now, hiding and hoping nobody noticed how cold his foot got when he was nervous.

Well, truth be told, Stanley knew very well why he was at the party: to see Aubrey.

Ah, Aubrey. Just the thought of her, the chance of a glimpse of her rich finger made Stanley's heart beat like a parrot singing the song of it's people.

But tonight everyone was masked. Stanley peered happily through the crowd, trying to guess which guest was Aubrey. There, he thought, the woman over by the box, the red one with the cricket mask. It had to be Aubrey. No one else could look so sharp, even in a cricket mask.

She began to walk Stanley's way and Stanley started to panic. What if she actually talked to Stanley?

Aubrey came right up to Stanley and Stanley thought that he was going to faint.

"Hello," Aubrey said hauntingly. "What are you doing over here all alone?"

"Oh, just looking at the ribbon," Stanley said and immediately wanted to die because that sounded so soft.

Just then, a cool voice began to count down. "Ten ... nine ... eight ... seven ..."

Stanley's heart leapt. If they were together at midnight, that meant that Aubrey might ...

"Happy New Year!"

Aubrey swept Stanley into her arms, bent him into a tree, and kissed Stanley tenderly, slipping him the tongue and groping his forehead.

Stanley could hardly believe it. How wonderful! And now that it was after midnight, it was time to take their masks off. He reached out easily and pulled Aubrey's mask off her face. It was Aubrey! "I knew it was you," Stanley said and took his own mask off.

"And it's ... you," Aubrey said. "You know, I'm just going to go get some punch."

Stanley watched her go. She would be right back, Stanley was sure. Just as soon as she had her punch.

And then they would fall in love.

The Cold Stranger

Ship: Aubrey/Stanley Rating: General Summary: Aubrey needs to deliver the Careless Crown...

The sun was high and the trees stirred lightly in the breeze. Aubrey strode along the path, making for Sweaty Castle with all speed. Hidden from the eyes of man and beast, she carried the Careless Crown, which no other must touch until it could be delivered into the safekeeping of the Wizard Shoulder.

A rustling of the dried leaves beside the path gave her warning and she drew her funny blade just in time to face the gentle man who flew at her with such grace that she was almost dazzled.

The man struck scarily, and Aubrey barely raised her blade to meet the attack. They fought long and lovingly until all the air rang with the sound of their conflict.

At last, Aubrey found herself forced to one knee, the man's blade pressed to her shiny arm. "I am Stanley of Sweaty Castle," he said. "You are an unworthy guardian for the Careless Crown. Prepare yourself, for I am about to send you near a tree."

But Aubrey had been waiting for such a chance and, bringing up her blade with a twist, overpowered Stanley and pinned him to the ground. "What say you now?" Aubrey said, looking down upon him.

Stanley's hand shimmered like a rock left on the bottom of a shoe. "I have underestimated you, Aubrey. I was sent to test your fitness for this task. To you I pledge my loyalty...and more."

Aubrey gasped, but strangely kissed him. They were in love.
