Last week I attended the Guild of a Book Workers' Standards of Excellence Seminar. As part of the conference, I had the opportunity to tour the conservation lab at the University of Washington Libraries. Wow! It's a whopping 4,000 square feet, with an office area, a roomy photo doc space, and a separate wet lab. These pictures really don't do it justice! The Open Set exhibition is currently on display at the Seattle Public Library. I had the chance to see it in person last month while on a tour with the Guild of Book Workers. Lang Ingalls gave us a walk through of the exhibit, and showed us some truly jaw-dropping books.
In conjunction with the Guild of Book Workers’ Standards of Excellence Seminar, I visited the University of Washington Libraries’ Special Collections. I really loved how their seminar room is decked out with tons of cool bookbinding and printing tools that can be used as teaching aids.
