CRUSH THE EARTH a series of paintings by Sam Spina April – June 2018 This is a series of paintings I made a month or so ago. While I'm not *super* thrilled with the results, I'm happy that I'm finally attempting some larger paintings and I really like that these totally reflect how I was feeling at the time (frustrated, angry, wanting to smash my face into the ground and stand on my head, etc.). I'm excited to do more with this theme in the future. #1 is 24" x 36" Acrylic on Canvas Side note: I bought this canvas 10+ years ago in my sophomore (?) year of college where it's been stowed away under my beds, behind bookshelves and under couches in 6 or so apartments across 5 states. I was always too scared of 'ruining' it... And even if I'm not stoked on the painting, I'm SO glad to finally cover up it's vast whiteness that has been mocking me for years 🤪 #2 is 12" x 16" Acrylic on Canvas #3 is 20" x 24" Acrylic on Canvas #4 is 24" x 30" Acrylic on Canvas Then there's the initial sketches based off of some loose sketchbook ideas and some detail shots. #painting #acrylic #crushtheearth #standonyourhead (at Burbank, California)
