Standing with Shane
Preface: I understand this is my resource site and 99.9% of the time my dedication is to the graphic content that I create but this is something I want to speak out about personally. So if you don’t care about my views on my favorite online creator, just keep on scrolling love.
Vent begins here, anybody who knows me knows that Shane Dawson is not just a face claim for me. I’ve opened up about being a fan of Shane Dawson for many many years with my friends and about the few times I’ve been able to interact with him. I was introduced to Shane way back in the day, even before his character skits. I was going through a dark time and my best friend at the time introduced me to his videos for the first time. It changed my life. I was literally on the edge of giving up a lot of my hope until I discovered Shane’s content. It gave me a reason to laugh, a reason to relate and it began a daily routine for myself to have a little bit of Shane on a daily basis.
The love and the fandom grew for me and here I am 10 (give or take a few) years later, still watching his content almost every day and now have gotten my boyfriend more progressively into his channel. I have seen Shane grow into a beautiful person with reachable goals. For those who are unaware he mostly makes podcast videos, theory videos and a new thing where he connects with people from his past and tries to dig and find a valuable meaning in those connections. Recently, an old voice clip/video of Shane making some jokes surfaced that shined him in a dark light.
1) What was said was out of context, completely. Shane is not what he is being accused of to my belief and what was said was all apart of some raunchy jokes that he was flowing with on his podcast. Him and his co-host often made steamy jokes geared about sex, kids, celebs etc. None of these were ever taken seriously and out of habit Shane often says ‘I’m just kidding, obviously’ because he was and the entire viewer ship knew that. We loved his fucked up mindset of jokes and it was his brand basically for years. 2) I hate that Shane had to come out with a video for a defense with the community knowing that he is known for his messed up sense of humor. Obviously the clip shared had parts cut out so of course it made him look worse than what it actually was. What was it? It was Shane making jokes and making his co-host laugh their ass off at the severity of it. Again, that was his thing and I can totally attest to that. 3) For anyone who would believe the claims that are being made, I venture you look into Shane’s older skit content and you’ll understand that in the past he has made jokes about really dark themes and that everything he has created isn’t meant to offend anyone. Granted, some of his older videos made me viewed as offensive because of the dark humor, however, if someone were to be offended, Shane would be the first person to stand up and say where he may have crossed a line. 4) I love Shane. And I support Shane. If this was a true story and Shane had committed an actual crime I would look at it logically and not stand along him only because I am a fan. However, in this case, there is no proof of wrong doing, he has made a video in his own defense and even admitted that the humor flow he was using at that time was something he didn’t like himself. I will always stand along Shane if I feel the support is valid. In this case, I do believe he said a messed up thing and it got taken way out of context. I love you Shane, we have your back.
Again, sorry to my followers if you hate Shane Dawson and this is filling up your feed up, this is really upsetting me tonight and I just needed my platform to vent out all of my feelings.
