EVENT REVIEW: Paint Jam @ Stane Street 02.05.2016
Been a while since I last wrote an event review on here. So let me start off by saying hello hey, hi! :D
Today’s bank holiday and thanks to Lisa (NuTab Founder) we were invited to a “Graffiti Day” for artists to join and paint in front of the public. With not a lot planned, I thought this would be a sweet chance to get outside (for a change) and practice some spray painting.
Amazingly I was the first artist there! I introduced myself to Kingsley who was super cool and got us our canvases, ready to start. He also provided beers for the artists to gulp down while we paint. Sweet! I couldn’t help but play a few games of Street Fighter II on the Super Nintendo, heck I really wanted to play Mario Kart 64 too! Literally, retro game heaven, which to be fair I did not expect. But now expect me to return for some gaming xD
You’d think one would be nervous painting in front of people, but astonishingly I enjoyed the engagement and curiously from the public! One stranger complimented the “movement” in my piece. Well I tried ahaha, I was still getting used to the spray cans. Layers after layers, I was finally, sort of getting somewhere. Really wished Ali (fellow NuTab member) had continued with his piece, the sketch he showed me was too sweet (literally, because he painted ice cream lol) but to be continued I guess.
Got to shoutout Ruby who was painting a female portrait using acrylics. And shout out to Ollie! We didn’t have a long conversation as I was leaving at the time, but he had a very humble and friendly character and hope to catch him soon! If the other guys are reading this, shout out to you too! Didn’t get your names but you were producing some fire pieces.
If you want to check my piece (which is work in progress) I posted a picture on my instagram, or you can check my previous tumblr post!
I’ll catch up again soon!
