(The Drowned Man - GTA RP Crossover)

Mark: What seems to be the matter with your friend?

Jimmy Bending: Oh thank god I’m finally here. Please help. It’s been a year since he’s gone missing. And this might sound crazy, but before he was gone, it was like he was possessed and I have no idea what to do! It all started when he started taking this new medication that he didn’t react well to. He started to...change. He wasn’t himself, and it got worse as time went on. Creepy things started happening. And he used to be obsessed with water, but then it was nothing but tacos. Tacos! 

Mark: Oh, well it definitely sounds like your standard case of possession. There are various things that can be happening there, none of which can be any kind of good. However, one thing. I only identify problems, I don’t actually solve them.

Jimmy Bending: So you’re not going to help me!? I drove over a hundred miles to get here! And what do you mean identify!? I already said possessio-

Mark: That’ll be 500$.

The reaction Jimmy had to this major rip off was the opposite of his nickname “Friendly” he had started using. He was scared, he was worried, he was beyond tired from the past year of futile searching all across the country and he was more than pissed at this scammer for making him believe even for a second that he could get closer to finding his friend.

I can’t be the only one that thought of Stan the Water Man when watching The Drowned Man Series with how much water stuff is mentioned there. First, it was cool to think of how Stan would be one of the only ones to know what was going on in that house because of how in tune he is with water. Then, I later thought of what if Stan was the one actually causing the water haunting, due to the occasional possession like stuff in the playthrough? Stan would go from an obsession with water to an obsession with tacos, but have some kind of water powers due to his long time possession that just keeps getting worse. Jimmy, having lost track of his friend, later seeks out Mark to help with this problem after seeing an ad, but Mark gives him little assistance in return, only charging him something for what he already knew. He coincidentally discovers Wade’s and other people’s cases of water trouble after Mark lets it slip, proving the trip to be at least of some worth as the word ‘water’ said multiple times rings a bell.

Jimmy goes on to research these strange water happenings and finds what he hoped wouldn’t be what his instinct was telling him, that his friend was a part of these happenings. He later continues on his journey to find his friend and rid him of his possession before it’s too late and either Stan himself or others get harmed in the process.

This started off as just a drawing of the character Mark plays in The Drowned Man, and then I added to it as this idea popped into my head. I really loved the GTA RP Playthroughs with the characters Stan and Jimmy as they were really funny and awesome, and one of my favorite things Mark’s played. And the more I thought about it, the more I found I wanted to make a crossover about it. The more I drew, the more the story kind of formed into my head.

I made this one with stan and jimmy in mind—this was the hardest one yet, because the fabric is pretty see-through, which meant I had to be super careful about the stitching on the back. Not to mention the hundreds of French knots that make up the center of the flower 🌻
