Staple Street Skybridge The always photogenic side street 🔻 🔻 Hallo zusammen 👋 🔹 🔹 Heute gibt es wieder einen Klassiker der New Yorker Fotospots. Hundert mal gesehen, hundert mal kopiert und nun auch in der Dirk Version 😅 Diese urigen coolen alten #NewYork ’er Gassen, man könnt dort die Speicherkarte zum glühen bringen. Sie sind seit dem 19. Jahrhundert Teil von New York City, kurze, geschlossene Brücken, die wie Eisenbahnwagen aussehen und ein Gebäude mit einem anderen verbinden. Funktionell und doch dekorativ sind diese Skybridges in der ganzen Stadt erhalten geblieben. Einer der schönsten ist dieser Skywalk in #Tribeca. Es wurde 1907 erbaut und verband das New Yorker Krankenhaus an der Ecke Hudson Street und Jay Street mit einem neuen Krankenhausanbau in der #StapleStreet, damals eine Industriegasse. On your right, running along the west side of Staple Street, is 9 Jay Street, built in 1907, which housed the hospital’s laundry room. . 🤚The skybridge was built to connect the third floors of both buildings. . 🌙 Today, the third floors of both buildings together comprise a 7,500-square-foot work/residential loft. . 👁 Today, the only hint that a hospital ever existed is the terra cotta shield cartouche boasting the initials “N.Y.H.” .
