Her hands were still shaking by the time she actually got home and pushed the door open. Eli had promised to take care of Trace and she trusted him, but that didn’t make leaving him any easier. The blood stains beginning to set on her clothes didn’t help either and she just wanted to get cleaned up and try to salvage her outfit at the moment. It was a trivial thing to focus on, sure, but it was keeping her from crying when she kept seeing Trace bloody and needing medical help that badly.
Star made her way up the stairs quietly, trying to ignore her too pale reflection in the glass covering the photos that lined the stairway. She knew how bad she looked right now and she didn’t need the reminder. She also didn’t want to deal with anyone, but she knew that hope was out the window as soon as Levi rounded the corner.
