Ye Gallifreyan monsters aren’t allowed the flare. But. After they escaped Gallifrey the Doctor gave Aster his robe. It really meant a lot to him. Like a confirmation that he is indeed a person. That he is indeed allowed the things that people are allowed.
This isn’t that scene tho. This is, what, couple decades afterwards? Aster’s doing a lot better now that he’s not being punished for every single mistake he makes and then some. He’s had a lot of love and encouragement, and has even accepted that wingdings is his font (after being told time and time again that it’s not and that wingdings are bad and only cause trouble and hurt every single time he spoke it) and is going by that now and even speaking it! Lol imma still call him Aster tho just to be able to distinguish him from all the other Gasters I have, since the Wingding spot is already taken by a younger, slightly different version of him.
This is actually him on his wedding night! They haven’t really made any close friends on their travels so it was just him, the Doctor, and the Rebel, but Aster’s fine with that.
