Callie's Birthday

Each morning before Callie hits up Pierre's, she walks into town and visits with either Morris or the Mullners. On her way in, Pam caught her attention:

She then promptly handed Callie a beer she had on her. Considering that Pam was on her way to the bus stop, that was a bit... concerning.

The Mullners are so sweet, even George despite himself.

Of course, Pierre also gave birthday greetings:

A bit later in the day, Callie swung by Marnie's ranch as she does most Sundays, and of course that little family also made sure to wish her a Happy Birthday:

I don't know why, but Shane giving Callie a half-dozen eggs for her birthday made me crack up laughing.

Callie typically drops by the saloon each night, and the Sunday regulars also got in on the birthday action.

And last, but certainly not least, the Junimos had their own surprise:

hi again - idk if you’re still taking requests BUT after the latest chapter i’m definitely curious to see what the jeric/june/sterling dynamic would be like. ik you said you might do something about that in the future, but just a short drabble would be amazing, romantic or just friend vibes!

This thing turned out so fluffy and sweet... I think I may have injured myself in the process. More of a vignette than an actual story, but I think I like it that way:

“Sweet” is one of those adjectives that I apparently overuse in Choices: Fall. I got like 40 hits back on that. 😂

Instead of fighting, June knelt down in front of her, wedging himself between the couch and the coffee table. Even with him on his knees, she still had to peer up slightly to meet his gaze. His entire face became… the only word she could think of was tender, with the way his eyes grew so large and incredibly soft, the sweet way those pink lips parted and curved. Oh. “No matter,” he said in a voice barely loud enough for her to hear. “A goddess like you should be worshipped.”

Looking through the rest of Choices: Fall, "exquisite" currently shows up on five separate occasions.

This one appears soonish:

The handsome man relayed the tale of his recent breakup and clearly felt rather bitter about the whole affair, though June had a hard time following his drunken explanation. Something about his workload and her best friend. Still, June had found the whole situation tantalizing. He did have a talent for soothing broken hearts, after all, and the man certainly possessed an exquisite physique. As he poured out his tale, Philip became more and more morose, and June became more and more drunk. He’d quickly fallen back into very old, very bad habits, and he offered to help that delicious snack forget his woes for a time.

Caelwynn's Birthday Week SDV Reader Requests #1 - "Bluebell"

Because that title isn't a mouthful. 😅

This one comes from @shortysus4: "AU (maybe in Zuzu?) where Callie gives Ben a dance lesson, bc I keep thinking about this concept and it's adorable to me."

Ben, for the record, is her farmer from her fantastic fic, Coffee Beans, Candles, & Keyboards (seriously, check it out! Especially if you're a June lover). Callie, of course, is the main character/farmer from my series Choices.

With Ben not-so-subtly pining over a June who has left the valley to go on tour, Emily agrees to be his partner at the Flower Dance. Unfortunately, her attempts to teach him go... poorly. At her wit's end, she asks Callie for a helping hand. The resident monster hunter easily agrees, looking forward to the opportunity to tease their newest farmer. And if she happens to have another lesson to impart, well, Ben should be glad to benefit from her wisdom and experience.

Today, we have possibly my longest chapter to date. ^_^; But we also hit the halfway mark through Choices: Fall!

Chapter 14, "Runaway Train," is now up on Ao3. This time, we get a multitude of PoVs as Callie's friends try to figure out just what the hell happened to make Sterling avoid Callie during the festival. She puts up with it until dinnertime before finally hunting him down. That evening, Sam, Seb, and Abby debut the song Callie suggested.

They worked for another thirty minutes or so before either one said anything outside of asking for a tool. Ratcheting down the last bolt on his side, Sterling said, “Sam mentioned last night that you guys had a new song to debut at the concert.” Groaning, Sebastian said, “Him and his big mouth.” “Yeah, kept calling it Callie’s song and insisting she’d done the lyrics for it,” Sterling said, grabbing a rag to try to get the grease off his hands and forearms. “She kept insisting in return that he was exaggerating.” He could hear the underlying jealousy in Sterling’s voice, despite the casual way in which he relayed everything. Sebastian and Abby kept telling Sam to lay off Callie, that she clearly wasn’t interested, but that went in one ear and out the other. “She hates taking credit for things,” he observed. Sterling stared. “She wrote it?” “It was her idea, and by the end most of the lyrics were hers,” Sebastian acknowledged, finally done on his side. “The music’s all ours, though she guided us to very different instrumentation than we’d normally go with.” Spotting the way Sterling had started to frown at that, Sebastian sighed. Stupid Sam and his stupid mouth. “Pretty sure she had someone specific in mind,” he added. “Oh?” “Just listen to it tonight.”

Eye Candy

Callie isn't the type to turn down a kind invitation. Plus, her husband still refuses to talk to her, so why not spend an afternoon listening to him play?

So I sent her into the hotel later to have her sit and grab a screenshot, and, well...

I really don't think her sprite could possibly look more awkward. 🤣
