Lloyd hadn’t expected that his visit over to Colette’s shared home would end up with her cooking him breakfast-- it was fairly early, but he thought he’d try to catch her on his way to work. Luckily she’d already been up, answering his text and inviting him to come inside. He now sat at a seat at their kitchen table, though quickly came to decide that he wasn’t going to let Colette do all the work by herself.

“The Professor won’t mind if I make us some coffee, will she?” standing up, the brunette walked closer to Colette to where the coffee maker was and smiled. “And hey, if you guys have any bacon, I can cook that up to go with the eggs!”

THANK YOU EMMY... i’m really glad you think so!! while lloyd can be viewed as a pretty simple-minded character, when you really look at him he does have all these different layers; he cares so much for the people around him and. yeah he’s dumb, but he’s full of heart and consideration and!! if i can get that across in my writing, i’m more than happy about that. ily so much and i am so grateful for his and colette’s interactions!!

“Easy Colette, just go sl-- wh-whoa!”

Trying to take his own advice, Lloyd kept a firm grip on Colette’s hands as the pair made their way to the giant skating rink; Lloyd taking the lead by backing up slowly so that Colette could hold onto him as they transitioned onto it. Unfortunately, the boy’s foot skid a little, and the action threatened to take him down-- but the brunette steadied himself after a moment, now unsure whether or not he was holding onto his friend for her sake or for his own.

“.. I have a feeling this is gonna be way harder than it seems.. everyone else here makes it look so easy! Too bad we didn’t have one of these in Iselia when we were growing up, huh?” though he joked and began to smile, Lloyd still seemed a little hesitant to go further, considering that neither one of them even knew how to skate in the first place. “You sure you still wanna do this?”

“H-huh? Oh, um..” he hadn’t meant for his expression to change so suddenly, from an excited grin to a soft, gentle admiring as their evening continued on into the night. Colette had taken Lloyd up on his offer to go to the gala, and the two were finally dancing together like they’d promised; though they were both clumsy, Lloyd had succeeded in twirling the blonde a few times, hearing her gentle laughter as she settled back onto her feet. Everything had been great, and the tension they seemed to have really was breaking slowly, bit by bit.. but for that small moment, Lloyd couldn’t help but just watch Colette.

Two years ago, Lloyd feared that something like this would never happen; that he would end up losing Colette, despite how hard he fought to keep her safe. And though that was so long ago, he was still so grateful to be able to see her this happy; especially because of him, despite everything that happened between them.

It took him a brief second to collect himself, but Lloyd was smiling soon after; so softly that it reached the corners of his eyes.

“.. yeah. I am, Colette. I’m really happy,” and his smile only seemed to grow as he swept her up a bit closer, the sound of her laughter more beautiful to him than the music they continued to dance to.

“Colette..?!? Wh-what are you--?!” Lloyd looks like he’s about to faint, entirely unsure where that comment even came from; and Colette seems far too happy to actually be upset, so was she.. joking? “U-uh, I-- I mean, that’s--” ah, you’ve broken him.
