Shin still didn’t really know what to think of it. Colette was one of the people here that knew way more about him than he was really comfortable with. The most astonishing thing about that though, was that this fact didn’t stop her from wanting to spend time with him.

Quite the opposite was the case. This time, she asked him if he could show her around Techno Solar. It seemed like she had a good time here the last time she got... ‘lost’ here. Apparently, none other than his bud Add was the one who helped her find her way back home that time.

Anyhow, they strolled already through some stores so far, and honestly speaking, after so much walking, he was relieved when Colette suggested to go eat lunch together. A break was a break after all! 

They were already sitting at a table nearby a window, waiting for their orders which did take quite a while until they were finally served. Shin got some mild curry, while Colette’s order looked... somewhat surprising. 

Shin couldn’t help but watch Colette inspecting her dish with her fork first. She still hadn’t taken a bite yet. And a closer look at her plate made it even more clear, that she was busy removing the green peppers to the side of the rest of her meal. Come to think of it, she did order them without the green veggies, right?​

“Not like this is any of my business, but didn’t you explicitly say you want that dish without the green peppers? Why not complain about it and ask for a replacement?”

Pushing the door to her house open with her foot, Mariela winced her right eye as the tower of boxes she held slid closer to her. With great effort, accompanied by the threatening sound of glasses clinking against each other, Mariela carefully placed the boxes in a corner in the living room. Proudly she stood over the tower with her hands on her hips. She looked back to the girl in the doorway and smiled. Mariela spun around to meet her gaze.

“Thanks for helping me carry all this back to my place, Colette! It’s a real big help.” Of course, she had made sure that the things Colette was carrying were items that could take a beating. Mostly it was fabric, cheese cloth, burlap sacks, paper, and ribbons she could use for packaging her wares. She had learned from the time that she was working at her shop.

“It’s gonna be real hard setting up shop when I can’t use my alchemy skills. That’s half of my stock! I’m really sorry if you were hoping for another job. But, I promise promise promise I’ll get it going again!” Mariela rolled up her sleeves and showed off her unimpressive arm muscle to somehow convince her guest that she was serious. Her voice betrayed a frantic energy different from her normal kind--it was almost like Mariela was trying to convince herself it was all going to be alright.

“How about some tea? C’mooon, take a load off.”

“Easy Colette, just go sl-- wh-whoa!”

Trying to take his own advice, Lloyd kept a firm grip on Colette’s hands as the pair made their way to the giant skating rink; Lloyd taking the lead by backing up slowly so that Colette could hold onto him as they transitioned onto it. Unfortunately, the boy’s foot skid a little, and the action threatened to take him down-- but the brunette steadied himself after a moment, now unsure whether or not he was holding onto his friend for her sake or for his own.

“.. I have a feeling this is gonna be way harder than it seems.. everyone else here makes it look so easy! Too bad we didn’t have one of these in Iselia when we were growing up, huh?” though he joked and began to smile, Lloyd still seemed a little hesitant to go further, considering that neither one of them even knew how to skate in the first place. “You sure you still wanna do this?”

@stardust-crosses​ No Place Like Home Decor

Raine carried a number of tapestries that she recognized from Asgard’s shopping center under her arm while browsing the tables of furniture and decorations from Aselia. While she was a bit disappointed that they were modern reproductions, she remembered the weaving she had hanging over her bed in Iselia before the Journey and decided that having them around would make her home feel more complete.

Raine looked back at her student, who was sifting through a collection of sheer curtains and carrying a package of fairy lights she bought at another stall earlier that morning.

“Colette, I’m going to be over here looking at the books for sale.”

Though the professor wouldn’t consider textbooks ‘decor’ per se, she was glad that there were a number of bookshelves from each world here. Many of the ones she found were outdated histories on the Desians, and inaccurate texts written by the Church of Martel. Raine frowned and exhaled a huff through her nose as she traced her fingers across the spines of the books. But then she suddenly stopped as her hand hit a leather-bound book with brittle pages. It couldn’t be...could it? The Stars really were taunting her. As she pulled the diary out from the shelf, there was even a sticker on the front indicating that this book was reserved for her.

“...To find this here of all places...”
