Dear Phil,

I can’t believe you want me to leave you a sappy paper trail. What are you going to do if your team finds this? I’m telling May I want video when that happens. Don’t blame me if they never let it go.

But I love you. If I could give you a medal for putting up with my stupid shit, I would. You deserve better. I am sorry for that much at least. I’m grateful, probably more than you realize, that you still want me in your life even if I can’t be there all the time. Or a lot of the time. 

I’ll see you soon though. The cabin’s empty right now if you want to head up there when things settle. I think I owe you some vacation time.

( Gossip and Speculation - starter )

I was so pumped for this thread! :D I have so much fun writing with Pickles (yes you! <3) and this was the first time we got to write together so that was awesome.

I really love Nick and Tony’s interactions in canon so diving into that was great too. I love that neither of them are particularly impressed with each other but Nick still cares about Tony and wants him armed in whatever way he thinks he needs to be. So that was the motivation for Nick to let Tony in on the secrets he’d collected.

Also Nick showing up in Tony’s house is just a necessity. It’s classic! :D

Sign Away Your Peace For Our War: early stage

          Although he makes a lot of bad decisions, and can often comeoff as foolish, Scott is far from oblivious as to what Sharon is doing there. ACIA agent turning up at his door asking questions with a well-known associationwith the SRA? Yeah, he knows what she’s there for. What’s more, Scott knowsthat she is aware of his identity, so sees no point in trying to hide it orpretend otherwise.

         He is also very, very acutely aware of the SRA and what itcould potentially mean, and is honestly afraid that she is there to arrest him.Honestly afraid that he will be taken from home before getting a chance to seehis daughter one more time. So of course Scott’s voice wavers slightly when herreason for visiting is put into words, when the SRA is actually brought up.

         With a slight disdain for authority, particularly SRAassociated authority, Scott has no inclination of playing nice when it comes toquestions about the Ant Man, rather turning Sharon’s question into a joke. Aremark on camera angle in regards to Sam Wilson. It is less about mocking herthan it is a protective mechanism, hiding just how terrified he actually is.

Alice: Done drugs?

Nothing he’s going to admit to. Sure there’d been a little weed in his youth but nothing harder than that. He watched people he cared about before and after he joined SHIELD do some stupid shit but something always stopped him. It wasn’t a moral or ethical choice so much as his own paranoia of what would happen if he got all fucked up and something went down while he couldn’t defend himself or the innocent people around him.

Proud

Through all the pain and anger and fear in his system at that moment. Through the doubts and the horrible feeling that no matter how this went, they’d missed their window and now the world would pay for it. Through it all...

The moment the Avengers pulled together. The moment he got word that Stark had come back through and that he wasn’t dead. He felt vindicated in his belief in them. Even after the losses... he was proud that they’d pulled it off.

It’s never the big moments that stand out to him. It’s the little stuff that sticks and he’s never really sure why that is. But he remembers a night in New York, a few years after Bogota when he and Melinda and Phil worked as a team and they went out for dinner because, why not?

Melinda nixed each and every Chinese food place except one. His Mandarin wasn’t good enough to pick up much of the conversation she had with the waiter but it was the best food--outside of the homemade stuff her dad and mom cooked up for them a couple times--he’d ever had.

The company certainly helped too.

HC + relaxation

It doesn’t come often but what makes a night off for Nick is very simple. A little music, some fresh food to cook up and experiment with and good company. If anything is going to get his mind off the job for more than a moment, that’s it. If he’s focused on what needs to go into the pot next or what spice he needs more of or what album to put on next so he can dance a little in the kitchen, the WSC won’t even cross his mind.
