Maul returning to his starlight. He is quite upon his approach, the Mandalorian wide eyed at the sight of him. Covered in blood and grime. It was not his own, they knew how to tell with ease now, even still this appearance was concerning.

He says nothing still, leaning close to them. His starlight lifts a hand to cup his cheek. He pushes into the touch. Another hand up to touch the other side of his face. There’s a deep rumbling in his chest.

In other moments starlight will tease about the purr but in this moment they feel the zabrak has no sighs for their joke.

They hold his face with gentleness. There’s was no gentleness about Maul. His return was nothing of it…but he accepted his stars soft touch. He returned to it no matter the cost.

Avi, baby, I love you -

Mmm, his look came easy.

He’s also a very pretty boy, holy heck!

His bangs and horns are going to probably be a little difficult to continue drawing but they suit him so I don’t have plans on changing anything.

Headcanons:

D(a)emons can always have different types of clothes and though Avior’s nature is somewhat reserved, he’s rather confident in how his body looks! He’s known to be a beauty among his own kind as well. His fits are generally pretty relaxed, he has a tendency to cover up though, even though his clothes are often skintight - it covers a lot of him. Despite how some look, they’re also very comfortable!

His eyes are somewhat unique, even by d(a)emon standards. Color shifts are heard of, but not often to such an extent. Avior’s eyes are usually red and gold, but turn black when he’s displaying more negative emotions.

After Starlight was injured, he’d given them his cropped hoodie to rest their head on... It was more comfortable than having them rest on the floor. He’d done kinda research before that familiar smells can keep someone calm, so he let them just continue lying on it even after he moved them. (When they get closer, he just let’s them wear it if they so fancy.)

He is unsurprisingly a little bit shy when it comes to non-platonic emotions. When he gets flustered, he gets a bit quiet and starts just blushing up a storm. (as seen in the top right)

Notes: I really have a thing for red and gold, don’t I? It looks aesthetically pleasing so... I’m prolly not gonna stop anytime soon. I had basically no other plans than my description and have been working on this entire piece for about three or so hours(with breaks y’all, calm down). But I am more than satisfied with how he came out! His horns were a bitch to design and draw though.

Oh, now I have this thing where when magic is used by d(a)emons or vamps, their eyes glow!

I think I’m gonna take a bit of a break from drawing today and maybe post again on Sunday or Monday.

The first group up are straight(or not so straight) from the office; our 9 to 5 men of the hour!

Realizing how Maul probably avoids removing his prosthetics around others. He only does so within the confines of his bedroom, likely the door locked and when it’s guaranteed that no one will be about.

If it’s in my au, where he was cut down from the mid upper thigh it’s only around his Starlight, within their shared bedroom they are removed and Maul unconsciously breaths out a sigh of relief.

Gentle hands trace over the scarring that will never fully heal. There’s a balm on the bedside table used to sooth the skin, it’s tenderly rubbed in. He leans upon his Starlight’s shoulder, waiting for the wave of aches to dissipate. As the years have past it’s become more taxing and more his Starlight seeks to ebb it away…

He closes his eyes and mutters a thanks as a kiss is pressed to his crown of horns.

Just Maul getting to be the gremlin he is meant to be. Like he’s crawling and definitely at ungodly hours. You can hear him scurrying in the halls and probably in the corner of the room.

He seems to have found something. A loud screech. Was it Maul or the sorry creature?

Do not ask. And do not comment on the crunching after.

All that is important is that Maul seems quite pleased with himself and is now sitting comfortably on the bed. He may take a quick nap before running off somewhere again, or force his Starlight to cuddle as it’s his sleep time now.

He seems more at ease now, a better night than most. No expectations. No need to resist. It’s a better night.

A broken purr as he closes his eyes. It’s a better night.

The Archivist trying their all to ensure they didn’t seem too out of place among Satine’s court. Dressing in the blues and greens the Duchess favored. Ensuring their accented old Mandlore was kept at a minimum. Trying not to scream aloud when more of the histories were trying to be smudged…

In this new court it was different. Gone were the blues and greens. Replaced with ember, crimson and onyx. The chatter lively and the words she hadn’t heard in so long freely used. There was no clipping of phonetics no need to keep it crisp. Their words came like a waterfall.

The lord Maul looked in their direction, “ Tell me Mandalorian, what befell this world?”

Where to start? What details to keep? Might as well start at the very beginning.

A gift. An appreciative token. The Archivist stared at the cloth laid out in their quarters. Crimson. Amber thread. A fresh start. Work to be done.

They smiled. A embroidered star would be a perfect start.

There were many a moment where Starlight was reminded that falling for Maul was no easy feat.

He reminded them often and was often perplexed when come sun up that they still were there waiting.

Dissatisfaction amongst the syndicate and council would gain his ire. Failure? That would ensure a swift end. It was not an option to fail.

“Must be infallible. Must sleep with one eye open. Might not sleep at all.” That was the conclusion that they considered regarding the advisor to the Mandalore.

They would be mistaken, Starlight had failed before. They had disappointed him. Once they were convinced that Maul would demonstrate said dissatisfaction, he did. His manner was to discuss the matter, “ Next time do better, we don’t have room for error.”

Starlight was left confused, that was more of a lecture? A bit of advice?

“But Sir I failed,”

“And you will learn not to fail the next time.” Was what he said. The next person he spoke to? Not to lucky.

“You have potential to grow and learn, others? No. We do not need to spend such resources on those who don’t learn.”

Potential was what he saw. Something he could influence and make great. There was the added benefit that Starlight had become his companion…

“Are they like a pet?”

Starlight tries their best to ignore the comments.

“You are lost in thought,” Maul sits beside them, a stack of data pads to review. Starlight shrugs, “ It is as you said people don’t want to learn.”

“Is there anyone in particular that needs to be dealt with?”

A shake of the head, “ Not yet.”

Maul was impressed by his companion. His Advisor had grown so much, but still…

Again another day where they remained close.

Learned so much but too stubborn to see or accept how this will end.

An arm links around his. Starlight rest their chin on his shoulder. No words. Just seeking comfort.

Maul should stop encouraging such action. His Star nestled closer, moving their head slightly to brush a kiss to his cheek.

He should stop encouraging. He should have learned to not lead them on.

He moves to meet the kiss with his lips.

He supposed he would never learn…

Marriage question for Maul and Starlight!

Do they follow any familiar, cultural, and/or religious traditions at any point of the wedding?

Ooooooo that’s a good question!

I have not considered any Dathomirian cultural rites in a marriage prior but goodness there’s lots of good ones I’ve seen people come up with.

Well for one on Dathomir it might be the males decorate their horns for their “nuptials” maybe some precious gold paint. Possibly some rings and gold chains that almost resemble a crown.

Starlight definitely fixated on how kingly and handsome he looked…

As for Mandalorian traditions…

The vows were in Mando’a, Maul had recited them constantly. Starlight has explained them

“We are one when together, we are one when parted, we share all, we will raise warriors.”

He quite liked them.

Starlight had unlocked the trunk they had inherited from their buirs, a starry veil that had been embroidered many generations ago…

“We have a habit of sharing things, passing things down.”

Starlight draped the veil over them both as they recited their vows to him.

The two kissing deeply under the shining stars and veil.

They were one now..
