this has been plaguing my mind for days

How long do you think it would take Maul in your AU to realize that while, yes, he did NOT kill Sidious himself, it also means that with Sidious death, his family are allowed to have a future outside of darkness and shadows? The twin Tomato’s and Lemons have a chance to start a new life with their spouses and have families of their own that get to grow and thrive in the sun or by a sea? That little Dani and Ava can have a chance to grow up and study to their hearts’ content? That he and his Starlight now have a chance to live under the stars and moons rather than underground, where they have been surviving all this while?

It will take some time probably not too long in my au! Maybe a week or so for Maul to get out of that headspace. Maul probably has been hiding out in the woods and Starlight one day follows him.

They know he needed space and time to process and today seemed to be a good day to share news with him.

“Cress and Leta are expecting” they tell Maul.

“Expecting?” He echoes. It doesn’t quite process to him. He picks up some sticks from the floor.

“Expecting” he repeats, the cogs in his mind click and speed up, “ a baby.” He mutters quietly. “A CHILD?!”

Starlight smiles and picks up more sticks to the pile. “ a grandchild”

He is about to protest, to state the danger when it finally dawns on him. Cress is safe…Aster is safe…Dani and Ava…his brothers children…they are safe now…

They could live. Truly live now….

“Our cress” their boy was going to be a father. Starlight is touching his face softly. Oh. Tears.

He blinks them away best he can. “When?”

“Later, not for some months. I’m not supposed to know it was a guess…I think they plan to wait to tell us. He knows you have been upset.”

Maul sighs deeply, “ Apologies….ive not been thinking well.” He pauses, “ everyone is safe now aren’t they? They get to live?”

“We all do.” They assure him with a squeeze to his hands, “ today is the start of everything we promised.”

Oh Maul walking from a coma after being told that the rebels defeated Sidious? A sense of relief washing over him.

Or Maul being on Endor and told by his family that Luke succeeded! The Emperor is gone! Relief and hope finally allowed to come to the surface…

Relief for like, a day, followed by weird trauma bonding grief and bitterness that he didn't get to kill Sidious will definitely ensue and I wanna be front row for that fallout :)

Ah you are so right! There is definitely going to be some turmoil over Sidious. Yes the man is gone but it angers Maul that he was not the one to end it.

He should be pleased it’s over but he is not. He is frustrated. He grieves the lost chance. It should have been him to end it! It should have ended with Maul striking him down…but it didn’t.

Sidious was gone.

Maul remained. His anger. His bitterness. His grief remained. Lingering like a ghost….

The celebrations around him are dulled. He is in his quiet sorrow and leaves to the forest by the Rebel camp…

The area clear of no others…Maul screams. He howls and yells until he can no longer.

Marks upon the trees from the force of his anger, his grief and all that in between….no where else for it to go…

What comes now? What is next?

Random thought based on a previous ask: Imagine Maul and Jet Puff getting a good look at the other wearing their clothes. Puff undoubtedly gushes over how colorful Maul looks in his clothes. Meanwhile, Maul sees that Puff have a bright heart symbol in the center of his chest thanks to the deep V-neck he’s wearing.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 ah yes a nice switcharoo! Maul wants out of the colorful clothes, while Puff refuses he likes the V neck! Let him show off the heart!

Fitting for the heat wave I finished Beach Maul! 🌴❤️

Made the custom shirt & accessories over the course of the last week after @gosouthkrabb inspired me to sew the shirt. Maybe went a little overboard with the accessories afterwards 😂

So happy how it turned out hehe. Maul deserves a nice vacation ❤️🍹

- shirt and towel handsewn and handpainted (since I didn't have the right pattern on any fabric...)

- sunglasses made from cardboard and wire, painted with acrylics and nail polish (for the extra shine ✨😂)

- wonky cocktail sculpted with modeling clay and painted with acrylics (sculpting is not my strong suit, that's why the orange slice and the umbrella are made out of cardboard...)

- radio made from cardboard and paper, painted with acrylics as well

- pool floats are actual mini floaties for drinks - bought them because they fit the size and vibe so well :D
