Star lays in between David and Michael, all of their limbs connected in a warm pile up. It’s not unusual to find them like this, when the morning light is so harsh and grating, keeping them from the world.
Or maybe it’s keeping the rest of the world safe from them.
David shifts, leaning over her to kiss Michael’s shoulder sleepily, and running a hand along Star’s arm from her wrist to her shoulder. He places his fingers beneath her chin and she takes his hand, kissing his palm. Drowsy herself, she barely registers when Michael starts murmuring something to them both, leaning over and pressing her lips against his to quiet him.
“Quiet, lamb,” she hums when she pulls back, as David pulls both of them closer, “Let’s have a good morning, yeah?”
