they are TOO MUCH alike: two sides of the same coin—if not the exact same side altogether—and it shows in how quickly they fall back into old habits. two weeks, give or take, and things are beginning to to the status quo. scene: a saturday morning, with coffee still brewing (meaning coffee yet to be had) as her daughter emerges from her bedroom in an all too familiar red turtleneck.

julian wasn’t big on holidays—with the exception of halloween and hanukkah, and those alone. religion prevented plenty from being celebrated, but even those considered agnostic went ignored. the point often lost on him and the rest of the apolskis, too. maybe they weren’t the celebratory types. a fact that was impossible for pippa to have known.
