It was a rather warm afternoon in Satelite. The people went about their day as best they could. Some children played with each other under the supervision of an adult.
In the supermarket area, the crowd fought tooth and nail to get what they needed. Food, worn tools, old cloths, and whatever else. It was hectic as ever. Though it was clearing up as the sun began to set.
In that crowd was a rather small, sickly child. Looking about six maybe eight years old. She was actually ten. With her was a dog, a leonberger. There was a string collar around his neck with some dulled scrap metal that had a name etched into it. "Hiro" was apperently the dog's name. He wore what appeared to be a harness of some kind, hand made from cloth and whatever else could be found. There were pouches on either side of the harness that had clips so they could be closed.
The dog's long fur, which was mainly red colored with patches of lion-yellow and red-brown here and there, was rather knotted and dirty and he looked worn out, as if he had seen his fair share of fights. Hiro was full grown with dazzling hazel eyes, a black snout and “mask” with a cute lion-yellow patch on his forehead that resembles an upside down spade. He had black tipped ears that gradually turn into a more red color. Lastly, he had black toes and a bit of black and lion-yellow coloring upon his chest.
The child look just as bad, if not worse. The clothes on her body were worn and old, ripped in some places. Around her whole visable right arm was white bandaging. She was thin, unhealthily so, and caked in dirt and mud that looked to be mixed with blood by the hints of red in it. It was rather difficult to tell that this child was given the female gender at birth, though that could be because of her age or maybe the living conditions the poor child is in. Her visable body was hurt, scraped up and bruised with a few visable scars here and there. On the right side of her head there appeared to be a small barely noticeable bump.
The girl stayed low, as did her dog. They appeared to be eyeing a stall that sold food. "Right." The girl muttered, pulling at the base of her long, dirty silver scarf over her scarred nose and mouth. It wasn't ripped but it was obviously worn. "Hiro, get into position. Make a break for it when you hear me click." She whispered. Hiro nodded and casually walked over to another area. The girl continued to watch the stall with her red, cat like eyes. She reached into an old silver knapsack and took out an old dark blue beanie then put it on to hide her snow white hair. She then pulled out a pair of silver rimmed goggles with tinted lenses. There appeared to be burn marks on random parts of the goggles. Last my she grabbed a pair of fingerless gloves, black with silver lining. She put those on then sighed, mentally preparing herself.
Once she was ready she grabbed her bag then snuck into another area. Then another, getting closer to the food stall. The child kept her eyes on her surroundings, eventually nabbing some food and making a click with her teeth.
Hiro heard then made a distraction by scaring the crowd. The girl slipped away unnoticed. The child soon met up with Hiro with a small arm full of food. "We split this between the two of us. I put some in my bag too. Hopefully it'll last us a few weeks." She hummed, giving a cough. Hiro watched, giving a soft whine while nudging the girl. "I'm fine. I'm fine. Let's get home." She said then walked to an area where not many people resided. It was practically a ghost town. Rubble and piles of trash everywhere, more so than anywhere else. There were a few house-like areas. The girl went to one and moved the curtain that covered the front door.
She set down the food in a holder then put her bag down, putting away some of the food. She then took off her beanie and goggles, hanging them up on an old wall rack. After that the child went to an old computer, across from the wall rack, and began typing away at it, looking things over.
All that was in the house was two bookshelves on the right wall with old books and what-not, an uncomfortable looking bed for the child to the left, an old pillow at the foot of the bed for the dog, a box of old tools under the desk with the old computer, what appeared to be some kind of snowboard on the wall rack, and a few other random things here and there like toys and books.
Eventually the girl stretched, grabbed some food and went outside with Hiro. She began climbing up a rather large pile as night began to settle. The lights of New Domino City coming into view. "I wanna go there." She sighed sadly, staring at the city. The girl coughed again and Hiro whined. "I'm fine. Let's just relax now." She said softly, her breath a bit heavy as all the running and sneaking around from earlier was finally catching up to her since her adrenalin was settling now. The breeze picked up a bit, the child's pure white hair flowing with it. Her hair was pulled up into a pony tail that spiked out in different directions, sort of resembling a star or a flower of some kind. She had two longer bangs on the sides of her face that stopped around her chin and were wrapped in old silver ribbon.
The two stayed there, eating some of the food they just took from the stall while watching the city that they want to see so much. But it's just too far. "Hiro..." The child muttered. "I promise, one day we're getting out of here. I promise." Hiro looked up at the girl and gave an affirmative huff through his nose. "I'll work on my board later tonight too. It's gonna be a late night again. I'll be sure to eat and take small breaks." Hiro looked at the girl, almost glaring. "I'll make sure to go to bed at some point too."
