       for   example,   in   this   instance,   where   she’s   seen   fairly   jittery   &   manic   due   to   the   tedium   of   a   sunday   evening,   two   birds   can   be   hit   by   a   single   stone.   the   first   one:      ❛   so   i   got   this   lipstick,   ’n   i   wanna   see   if   non - humans   are   totally,   completely,   utterly   immune   to   it,   ‘cause   y’know   a   gal   can   never   be   too   prepared   for   anything.   ‘specially   in   this   city.   or   in   outer   space.   ❜      the   second   one:      ❛   only   con  is   that’joo   gotta   pucker   up.   ❜

This is the setup for some sort of punchline, in some universe somewhere: Power Girl and Rogue walk into a cat café. There's nothing funny about it, though, it's a deadly serious outing that has Rogue instantly melting as she takes a seat at one of the tables with Karen. ❝ You kiddin'? This is great. ❞ Grin's confident and, in a real genuine sense, happy, her eyes going wide as she picks up a nearby kitten. ❝ Ah'm gonna take you home. And yer brother. ❞ She meets the stare of a cat perched nearby, lounging in a planter . ❝ And that one. All'a ya. ❞ She stops herself from landing a smooch on the kitten's head, settling for keeping the cuddles restrained to gloved hands. ❝ Maybe this will be a problem. ❞
