okay so to start, bc ofc brainstorming sapphic pynch you have to think where gansey factors in. so, i consult the masses so a lot of these ideas are from a notepad of ideas i scribbled down because girl!gangsey has infected my brain critically and i had to drop into fmd and ask everyone their thoughts oops. i have names i'm using for this but for sake of clarity i'm just using their canon names but! i've got ideas!
ignoring the fact that (as i've said) sapphic adansey is just jennifer's body
discussions of whether gansey would be allowed to drive the pig at all came up (ie teenager girl at very prestigious all girl's private school, is she driving a broken down camaro to school every day etc etc, those expectations are different for her); and per @destructions-daughter wonderful point: it falls out into the rest of the group dynamics. bc no gansey breaking down in the pig at the side of the road means no adansey meet cute means that their meeting would be pushed back
which means that adam and gansey are less likely to become friends before adam and ronan would become friends. i still wanna play with canon pynch + ronan having a thing for adam off the bat, so after seeing adam but without the pig breaking down, she either meets adam in class (latin, duh) and the two are just fucking assholes to one another enough they start getting along. there are some finer details i need to pick through but! pynch friendship first.
which i think leads to a really fun dynamic btw adam and gansey here bc adam and ronan developing as a unit would be pretty distressing to gansey in this case, and homoerotic female friendships go fucking crazy so imo that's just a nastier and more possessive dynamic bc gansey is being isolated (noah isn't exactly going to school or there very much) and ofc "they were always walking away from him" ooooh
which bleeding into how sapphic adansey is just gonna be fucking AWFUL to one another. specifically on adam's part bc that envy and sense of aesthetic appeal is just worsened far far far worse by natural pressures.( @ninjacat-uchihaparrish brought up the idea of gansey having a bigger chest vs adam having a smaller chest, for example, which is an idea i enjoy, so elements like this i ascribe to the dynamic). gansey doesn't have the freedoms of self expression she thinks adam has, adam is similarly envious of gansey and adding this into what i like to think is her enforcing a feminine presentation due to parental pressures and gender roles, while naturally leaning masc (later in the series timeline) it creates a lot of envy over how they present and dress and care for themselves etc etc. there's also a lot of "do i want to be her and be with her" on adam's end which i extrapolate from ofc canon adam, but i do think this translates differently with women than it does with men
i don't have much to say in regards to an actual plot but my synopsis here is how i think sapphic adansey is potentially like 1000x more toxic because it puts two girls in direct competition with one another (and adding the pynch dynamic puts gansey in a position where she does sort of naturally see adam as competition, even if it isn't in the same way) which means i am proposing academic/personal/in general rival for sapphic adansey
there is just not a reality i see where adansey as women have the same relationship as they do as men and i am mildly addicted to that idea, because it's so wound up in internalized misogyny and what women should act like and viewing women as lesser and as constant competition on adam's part. because translating adam's canon misogyny to internalized misogyny forces the conceptualization of all the women around her as people to compete with to prove she isn't "like other girls" etc etc (which is now how i see the bluedam dynamic unfolding). i do think a friendship evolves, much like canon adansey (with mutual respect and adoration tied very extensively into envy) so it is a VERY girl, so confusing meets almost romantic "i can't fucking tell if she likes me or not bc there's so much layering there" and just like in canon they're blatantly attracted to one another but it is SO wound up gender and class envy
(also introducing bluesey vs bluedam bc i think blue should stay a girl actually and that makes the dynamic between them even more complicated bc it opens up grounds for blue to have attended aglionby, and her reasons not to or to say she didn't actually want to etc etc etc)
that's literally all i got atm. i don't think it's much but its how i'm conceptualizing it! i might just write homophobic kiss with sapphic adansey. anyway.
