So far I’ve only developed one AU for him, though. His goals there are similar, provided he’s largely someone who lives a life of doing whatever he wants. So, yes, he’s still a Hunter of Hunters... and still one who doesn’t play by the rules, thus giving the order a bad name and having a lot of fun while at it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anyways, is he good at adapting? Yes. It’s one of his strong points.
He’s remarkable at observing people and their social dynamics, analyzing them and utilizing that information to play their game, so to speak. Likely to get along with almost anyone and learn any place’s customs really fast --- at least on a superficial level.
Of course, he’s seldom sincere and tends to see everyone as things he can use until they break or become hostile. This marks a major point of rigidity since he’s often unwilling (and incapable) to form deeper relationships that actually help him grow as a person. He’s stuck in his own egocentric way to be, and there’s little chance of evolving on that particular level.
Part of adapting to new eras would include things like technology, language, any other cultural artifacts, etc. He’s curious and resourceful, much like a crow, so yes... he will find a way to make things work to his benefit. He actually enjoys toying with the new and learning all about it, even when he does have his own preferences.
