1/100 days of productivity // 03.20.2016
I was debating on continuing with my previous 100 days of productivity challenge but I clearly fell off the horse and I figure with the first day of Spring today and I'm starting a "diet" I should start over my challenge today March 20th, 2016. 100 days from now will be June 28th, and I would at least like to post most days on my progress. Things in my life should be blooming as well as the flowers right?
Since I've gotten married I lost interest in trying to lose weight and exercising, but the scale is getting pretty brutal to look at, I'm not happy with my pictures that I take. Job/Career/money is going nowhere and I should take some steps towards improving that as well. So 100 days from today, June 28th, I would like to be at my 1st goal weight and have some coding knowledge under my belt. I'm not sure how to measure that result because I'm not sure where I'm supposed to know by then, but I am taking a free course through Harvardx to jumpstart me on 3/25. There are so many free resources with coding online too I just need to work at it almost everyday.
Chad and I are figuring out what to eat and I think we're going to take the low carb/slow carb route for the next 30 days. The slow carb diet from "The 4 hour body" by Tim Ferriss. I will be tracking that closely too with my fitbit app. I'm not sure how much I want to share on the blog, but we'll see how brave I am. So my first goal is to lose about 15lbs. but actually I'd like to be 20lbs lighter than I am now but in 100 days I think 15lbs is a far enough stretch.
Slow carb diet rules from fourhourworkweek.com
Rule #1: Avoid “white” starchy carbohydrates (or those that can be white). This means all bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, and grains. If you have to ask, don’t eat it.
Rule #2: Eat the same few meals over and over again, especially for breakfast and lunch. You already do this; you’re just picking new default meals.
Egg whites with one whole egg for flavor
Rule #3: Don’t drink calories. Exception: 1-2 glasses of dry red wine per night is allowed.Rule #4: Don’t eat fruit. (Fructose –> glycerol phosphate –> more bodyfat, more or less.) Avocado and tomatoes are excepted.Rule #5: Take one day off per week and go nuts. I choose and recommend Saturday.
So its similar to Atkins and Paleo except you eat beans to make up caloric loss of not eating carbs.
Chad and I would eventually like to go vegetarian and maybe one day if I can make the leap I'd love to be vegan. I mostly would like that because I am an animal lover and the way that factory farming works and animal cruelty, bleh... If I had to kill an animal for survival I don't think I could do it, maybe fishing but that's it. I'd even feel bad to cook a live lobster :( however I do love to eat it if someone else does it for me. My first brush with veganism a couple years ago, I felt weak and caved in after 6-7 weeks. So I'm not sure if my body really needs meat or it was adjusting, but maybe if I did vegetarian/no dairy my body will like that more, because I can still eat some eggs.
Walking Leela 30 min day is better than nothing, however not enough to shed any pounds. We will be moving soon and the new apartment gym will be really nice and I won't have downstairs neighbors I can perhaps do some workout videos at home, like P90X or the 30 days shred. Until then I would like to take my walk/jogs up to 3 miles a day and I would have to split that up in to 2 walk/jogs a day because the mornings I'm in a rush to get to work and 30 minutes is the max I can do to get my Leela somewhat tired for the day. I also need to drop into some yoga sometime at my existing gym where I was paying for a gym membership. That will end soon since I cancelled that.
I will start taking more photos of I guess my ugly work space. I get inspired by the cool posts I see on Tumblr and Instagram, and they have neat work spaces. When I move though, I'll get my own desk and not have to share with my hubby, so I can make that nice. I want to make a work space/vanity area. Maybe a place I can put my make up on too so I'm not hogging the bathroom from Chad :).
I found the Triller app, an app where you can make short music videos I'm hooked, but not happy with my double chin on video :( It's fun though, I'm going to play around with that today. Happy first day of Spring!
