the FIRE types are a mixed bag but often correct, and really one of the things I think they do objectively better than most like, pop financial advice, is that the first thing they tell you is to do work that makes more money rather than less money. Low bar to clear!

I don't think authenticity, as in fidelity to your true self, is an absolute virtue. Identity is constructed as well as lived. You can change the kind of person you are in the same way that you can change a habit. It is not easy, but it is possible.

it’s really hard not to absorb the constant message that things are out of control, so why bother trying? but actually i have a lot of control over some things in my life, and not exercising it because i feel bad about the lack of control in other areas or lack of control that other people have is extremely irrational

Where’s one of those Instagram edits where it’s like “there’s a girl you’re interested in but you don’t make 6 figures, aren’t athletic, haven’t worked through your issues etc.” and then it plays an audio clip from the Spider-man game where Peter goes AWOL from his job at the hospital and says “I gotta get back to work”

Like I’m not yearning hard right now but I’m on a streak of related reblogs so I might as well look for one of those videos so it can go into this little scrollable collection. Those videos make me smile. Start toiling.
