I finally started T (yay!) and I had a question. My doctor put me on .5 milliliter every 14 days (my vials are 200 mg/mL) as a starting dose. Does this seem super low to you guys? I've heard over and over that most trans guys are on .5mL per week starting out, not every two weeks, and I'm a little concerned that my progress is going to be slower than anticipated because of this.
it doesn’t matter what dose other people are on, what matters is that your doctor adjusts (or maintains) your dose based on your personal lab values. Some doctors start their patients at a specific dose and range, others start at a different dose and range. (some doctors also use a different concentration). The main reasons for this difference are due to *patient preference*doctor experiences with patient changes*doctor experience with patient complications and lab values*doctor’s training (the school they went to or where they learned to dose hormones)as long as the doctor is checking your lab values and they are changing appropriately; you’re not having bad side effects; and you’re seeing the changes you anticipate: you are on an appropriate dose. (40-80/80-160mg every 7-14 days is a typical “full” starting dose, anything below is considered low dose)Try not to stress comparing yourself to what “other” people’s dose or starting dose is, as long as your lab values are appropriate, your transition should continue on the expected pathmod mayhem
