Orientation and week -1
So the orientation came and went. I study at a smaller campus where it was all done in a day, and had the pleasure of working there helping new students. If you're starting uni this semester I hope you attended your orientation session and got the most out of the day.
Tomorrow I will be presenting at a Mature Age Student workshop, a gig that I got partially thanks to this blog! I never thought writing down my own study notes would bring about opportunities, but it already has, and I'm not complaining. Make a note, if you come up with an idea (no matter how small) see where it leads - you may end up with unexpected benefits.
Next week is the last bit of freedom and leisurely lunches and breaks for the next 18 or so weeks. I've been dying to get back in to it, and will use this week to prep for a couple of units I'm taking this semester (both look like a fair bit of work). One of them combines topics from several units from last year, and my initial sense was sheer panic: can I remember any of this stuff?! I got a HD on all of the previous work for crying out loud, why does this not make any sense???? But I know it will, just like it did last year after several weeks of pure WTH moments. I just need to trust my own learning and the process, it'll come back to me.
Enjoy this last week, if you have a chance do something special with the kids/family/friends. If you want to look back at my notes from spring 2017 check them here.
What am I doing this week?
Presenting at a Mature Age Student Workshop
Continuing work on a science project unit starting this semester
Reading ahead to prep for a particularly challenging looking unit
Going on campus for all of the above, including a day care drop off and the usual morning routine
Sweating over tutorial allocations
Decorating folders and notebooks with the kids
Making sure I've got everything ready for the semester
