#Alaska memories. The harbor of Kodiak Island is 95% fish trawlers now that all the tourists have left. Bear season is over and soon the last remaining bears will rest their filled bellies for a couple of months. We got lucky that we still had the chance to visit a couple of Kodiak bears and see some whales on private tours. The advantage of our timing was that we were alone with all the wild animals! So I can definitely recommend using the last weeks of September for a visit of Alaska! My first time riding a seaplane... ✈️⚓️ probably also my favorite #StartTheArrow moment! (Advertisement) After a couple of months preparing and working on this project it was quite exciting to finally fly to #Alaska a couple of days ago with the @skodaat photo contest winners @fabolus_vienna and @fischko20. You can't imagine how we felt after this day - where we soared in the sky and watched whales from above, met Kodiak bears in their natural habitat and even saw whales breach right next to our boat. It's going to be hard to sort these memories, they are just incredibly hard to beat! Like a rock! This place was easily a favorite on Kodiak Island. (Advertisement) Rough, windy and off the beaten path (in fact at the very end of the one main street that connects the small part of the island that is even accessible by car😂). Although Kodiak island is the second largest island of the United States it feels so remote and small - we honestly thought we could "see" it in two days... 🙈 Now we know we have to return! Day 2 in #Alaska was defined by adventures. From the Caribbean to #Alaska, that's what I call a contrast ☺️ (Advertisement) I still can't believe that I rode three different planes to finally get to this incredible small island called "Kodiak" - all thanks to and together with @skodaat and the photo contest winners @fabolus_vienna and @fischko20. This project was in the making for about half a year and now we're finally here, watching surfers and sea lions - and searching for the roots of the new #KAROQ, a car named after the Alutiiq words for car and arrow.
