—Damien took refuge in the forest his whole life not because he was scared of the peasants attacking him, but because they were so noisy and irritating. Vampires had keen senses and was sensitive to everything that moved around them. The loud clanging of metal in the blacksmith’s made his ears ring, the loud moans that came from nearby bars where men pulled women to their laps or pushed them to the floor and took them right then and there, and the loud barking of dogs and all the sounds the animals made made him wanting to collapse on the floor and rip his ears out. Damien was impressed how much the world had prospered all these years, and the women were treated like normal human beings, not like the medieval times where they were worth nothing but a mere object.
The twenty-first century was undoubtedly noisier compared to the past eras, since now the modern technology has developed. He could have had a peaceful life in the forest, but the number of human bodies that roved through the forest lessened and Damien was forced to move in an overcrowded city to avoid starvation. He didn’t like the taste of animals.
He could feel her eyes on him every once in a while, making him snort. ❝ You can take a picture, it lasts longer, ❞ Damien snapped once again and turned his head to the side, looking at her with dull, blank eyes. ❝ Am I that attractive people keep staring at me? ❞ The vampire asked in an arrogant tone. As if on cue, a group of girls passed by them and looked at him, giggling to themselves. Damien could hear them saying Oh my God he’s so handsome! and I want him to be my boyfriend! which made him snicker quietly, deciding to mess with them by flashing the girls a suggestive wink, dragging his tongue across his bottom lip in the process.
