Hey so I feel like this really shouldn’t have to be said but like… can we stop using their real names? Seriously?

Some of it are those people that hate sleep token, and are obsessed with hating it and will do it to rile up the band and their fans. But then also the other day came across a reel that was talking about II and his comment under the Guardian’s post I believe it was (II we still love you for that), BUT THEN THEY LIKE CASUALLY SWITCH OUT II FOR HIS ACTUAL FIRST NAME LIKE “It’s so cool how [REDACTED]-“ and stuff along those lines.

I don’t know if this is something that makes these people feel cool, maybe even closer to the band? But you guys are the only ones who enjoy it. Majority of fans don’t want to know and you are just outright disrespecting the band’s wishes. This is now the second name I know and both were against my will, and like I know it’s not the end of the world but I don’t wanna know and most others don’t. So just stop it please. It’s annoying and unnecessary.

There’s this account that I’m sure plenty of people know called sleep-token-confessions (I won’t tag them because I’m not sure if they want to be tagged, also not sure if I should in a post like this). I really like this account and follow it, and occasionally put in my own asks/confessions. It’s a really cool concept and it lets people share thoughts and ideas they may not have done on their own account.

That being said there seems to be a problem. It doesn’t come down to the account itself but the people who post on it.

Why do we feel the need to talk about people’s bodies?

There have been quite a few posts now with people making comments about a band member’s body, either to criticise and shame it, or to discuss what kind of body type it is. One of these times the account had to intervene on it because it was all people used that account for for a bit.

Is it not obvious how wrong that is? It’s nobody’s business and making any sort of comment in that nature about anyone is gross. And I guess they knew that because all those asks were anonymous.

So not only are they making comments and judgements that absolutely no one asked for but they’re doing so in the asks of someone else’s account, so they can hide their username while they say all of this stuff.

That kind of behaviour is both disgusting and cowardly. Why is this happening?

You don’t know this person. You don’t know what’s going on in his life, his thoughts, or what his self-image is. It’s stuff like this that can seriously harm someone mentally. And that’s not even to mention the fact that this can cause other people to think that there’s something wrong with their body type.

I know, “this is the internet”. I know coming across this kind of thing is near unavoidable, but I still think that it’s worth speaking up about it.

But I really think this should go without saying: don’t bodyshame people. And don’t add your unwanted opinion about someone else’s body.

"i'm part of the problem." for what? for engaging in official activities ??? for lending an ear to their music ??? for recognising that, yes, the men are charming and appealing on stage ??? you're not helping in keeping the message they want to spread - DO NOT CROSS THEIR BOUNDARIES. Seeing people in the main tag shaming Vessel for 'not wearing underwear', saying it's a red flag that he 'thinks it's ok' to do so, and insisting he 'put something on' because it's inappropriate.

Shame on him for what? Having body parts? Weird body shaming and victim blaming vibes. You're the one drawing attention to the fact in an inappropriate way, he's just out there trying to perform comfortably. "I can't stop seeing it now" maybe you're the problem.

i think im also mildly irked cuz of how their copyright team shoots down fanmerch. like id much rather buy prints and trinkets than whatever the fuck theyre putting out rn and it’s just. mildly frustrating that they’d shoot down merch like that when they themselves dont quite offer anything similar or of similar quality :v

Could people honest to God stop posting the band members' other projects to the MAIN Sleep Token tag? Genuinely, what the fuck?

The whole point of the band is to have music stripped away from identity, it's supposed to exist in isolation, and the ONE thing the band has asked from ALL OF US as fans is to respect that and their privacy.

Considering all the jackasses out there freely posting about their identities, it's understandable to just run into info and unfortunately be stuck with it, and you can't take that back. But you CAN at least avoid showing it to other fans who DON'T know and don't WANT to know!

Talk about it if you want, but please for the love of God, stop posting it to the main tag and band member tags. Even if you take away identifiers, you are still sharing info they don't want shared connected to their identities as members of Sleep Token.

Please just stop posting to the main tags. Please think about the band members you're so fond of and think about how much their privacy has been violated over and over. III is constantly harassed on his personal Insta, IV has been sexually harassed IRL, Vessel wrote an entire song about his privacy being violated and how unsafe he feels now because of it.

It's not cute to post "just" a peek at another project, or "you can only see peeled hands in this video from a Twitch stream that was leaked against III's will!" It literally does not matter how much you say you care about these band members if you won't abide by the ONE thing they've asked of us. It literally doesn't matter how special they are to you. You don't get special interest/comfort media privileges to disrespect the boundaries of human beings.

Please have some self-awareness.

I wish people understood that they could just say that they don’t like a band and they don’t have to come up with shit to put on them. 💔

They could just say “I don’t really like Sleep Token, their music is not for me”… but instead they look for anything they can possibly find to put dirt on them, and treat that “controversy” as a “Yes! Finally people have a reason to hate this band!” Rather than a “hey this seems a little concerning and should be brought to our attention”.

e.g. that whole plagiarism situation. That absolutely sucked for the artists/photographers, and anyone involved, including the band if they were aware of it and allowing it to continue (I don’t think they actually were, but I have no knowledge about this kind of thing so I can’t rule it out) was to be held accountable for that.

That whole thing was a while ago but this is relevant because: I first found out from a content creator who brought it up, because they didn’t like the band. And from the way they were talking about it, it almost seemed like they were excited for something like this to happen. And comments naturally were like “yes Sleep Token hate!!” instead of any actual care towards anyone who actually affected by the whole thing.

I know, not a new thing and the internet’s like that, but I still wanna complain because it really, really annoys me.
