In the Spring of 2014 Freddie Gray was murdered after dying “mysteriously” under police care in the city of Baltimore, MD. The outcry from the community resulted in a historic uprising that awakened the consciousness of the American people. During this uprising I was invited to speak on a town hall panel to discuss the current state of affairs and perform my song “Frontline” to uplift and inspire the people of Baltimore. My good friend and Baltimore native, filmmaker Akio Evans, had been documenting the protests and witnessed first hand the events leading up to the protests and the aftermath. As fate would have it, our paths crossed to capture this moment and history was made. I know that the work I am doing is not mine, but God’s work. I know that this struggle is a continuation of what my ancestors fought for. Rest in Peace to all of the victims of Police Terror. Through this song and video I hope to immortalize our cry. "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” - Martin Luther King Jr. "Usually when people are sad, they don't do anything. They just cry over their condition.
