Abandoned ideas for Steggy secret Santa ( @rustandruin )
Comic premise: Sometime after SHEILD is set up, Cap!Peggy and Skinny!Steve talk about children. (Might come back to this eventually. As you can see below, its too long and I got burnt out.)
[Panel showing Steve and Peggy sitting on the couch in their living room, facing each other.]
P: It’s not like I don’t think about it from time to time. I mean… it would be quite normal of us, wouldn’t it?
S: I don’t think anything about us is normal, Peg.
S: We courted in active war zones... [Panel showing Peggy and Steve in battle]
S: You didn’t have your Pop give you away... [Panel showing Dum Dum walking Peggy down the aisle.]
S: And don’t get me started on homemaking. [Panel showing Steve in an apron, pulling pie out of the oven]
P: Wouldn’t dream of it. The men at work already think I’m mad for working after marriage. And you couldn’t even pay the women to stop asking me about children. [Panel showing some women from work. ‘Children’ from Peggy’s word bubble is bubbled by the ladies]
[Panel shows them on the couch again, both silent and looking at each other. Next three panels are close ups switching between the speaker’s faces.]
S: But you do think about it?
P: I think about my job, Steven.
S: Of course you do! [Steve is flustered and trying to back track.] I didn’t mean to imply—
[Panel shows to the space between them.]
P: No, I mean-- [Peggy takes Steve’s hand assuringly.]
P: I mean, I think about the dangers my line of work invites. The sort of people who might... [A large panel separates the sentence, showing a future Peggy clutching a baby in her arms. On one side of her a Hydra operative reaches for them. On the other side, SHEILD scientists reach for them] ...take advantage of an opportunity like that.
S: Jeez, I didn’t even think about that. And your genetics!
[A panel shows what Steve imagines: A pregnant Peggy sitting next to him on a couch. Peggy is wincing and Steve is looking in surprise at her belly, which shows a bump where the baby is kicking much too hard.]
P: I’ve had enough of being a lab rat for a lifetime. [Overlayed behind her: a shot of her getting jabbed with needles from when she first got the serum.]
[Scene returns to present, wide shot of the two of them on the couch.]
S: Right. Yeah. Of course. So… no.
P: Not no, just— I don’t know. [A series of emotions cross Peggy’s face. Concerned, conflicted, then discouraged.]
P: SHIELD only just got off the ground. [Panel with the opening ceremony for SHIELD. Peggy and Colonel Philips are next to Howard as he cuts a red ribbon.] It all feels so fragile right now, like if I take any time off, it will all fall apart.
P: But I know we don’t exactly have forever to start a family. It feels like I can't have both. [Peggy is in the center of this panel. Behind her overlays a scale with her shield on one side and a baby stroller on the other.]
uuuh, I didn’t get further than this part. I figure it’ll steer towards Steve giving her some sort of pep-talk which gives her the confidence that she can do both, and maybe ends with them heading up to the bedroom or other wise agreeing to start a family.
