I had an excellent time at the #stellafane convention last weekend. This is my #telescope setup on the observing field. It was so great to see old friends and lovers of #astronomy. A 16" f/4 New Moon Telescopes custom made Dobsonian. We scored 2 clear nights with at least 75 objects observed. 🔭

Stellafane Convention 2013, Home of the Springfield Telescope Makers Inc., Springfield, Vermont, USA

For those in the area,  I wholeheartedly recommend the Stellafane Convention of Telescope Makers coming up in Springfield, VT, this weekend.

This will be my third annual pilgrimage to Breezy Hill, which makes me a slightly informed newcomer to the experience. Some attendees have  been attending without fail for decades.

Good people. Good information. Excellent viewing (sky willing). The swap tables on Saturday morning are worth the price of admission, alone, if you are in the market for bits and pieces needed for your astronomical observation obsession.

The Stellafane Convention is a gathering of amateur telescope makers. The Convention was started in 1926 to give amateur telescope makers an opportunity to gather to show off their creations and teach each other telescope making and mirror-grinding techniques.
