Stellar Warfare still due to offer support for Linux and Mac
Stellar Warfare space RTS games release but still planning a port for Linux and Mac with Windows PC. According to further details of developer Tense Games. Who is also gearing up for a release next month on Steam. The Dutch game studio Tense Games has announced their Space RTS, Stellar Warfare. Which is due to release into early access on Steam on August 4. Where it will remain for roughly 6 - 12 months of development. But the initial release will be on Windows PC. Although, there are still ample plans for Linux as well as Mac.
The general plan is as follows: release the game on Steam for PC and make sure it runs well. As soon as that's done I will try to export it to Linux and Mac.
So the main concern here, managing the bugs/issues OR if the time and reward ratio is good enough, expand platform support as well. After that looking into localization into multiple languages for Stellar Warfare. That's more or less the order of things. Tense Games also points out, if they had more manpower or finances, they would work on Linux right now. But there are lots of things on the to-do list, and generally, only one person who can do those types of things. Therefore, there is no time frame for the Linux build just yet, but it is coming. With that being said, since Stellar Warfare is developed in Unity 3D, Proton support works. Having personally tested the Windows PC via Steam Play is good news.
Stellar Warfare: Coming August 4!
Stellar Warfare has been in development for three years by a small but very dedicated team. After almost a year of play testing and implementing feedback from patrons. Now the lead developer is finally ready to let the game go into Early Access. Players will take part in the aftermath of a galaxy spanning conflict between the humanity and the zealous followers of The Light. Events take place that throws the galaxy into chaos. It is up to the player to find answers and safeguard his people. The Stellar Warfare player can choose to build up their fleet slowly. But they also start raiding right away. Hour-long buildups are not required for those who desire instant action Killing enemy units allows you to find blueprints that you can then use in between games to modify your units. There are currently well over a million possible ship setups you can choose from. “I've always wanted to play a classic style space RTS that offered just the right amount of base building and customization for my taste. Because the RTS genre has been quiet for some time now I decided to make one myself. There seemed to be a lot of 4x games that did offer a lot of customization, but each game would take many hours. I wanted to create something that is a bit more classical in nature, is instant action, but still offers overarching progression” said Thomas van den Essenburg of Tense Games. Stellar Warfare features a wide variety of single and multiplayer game modes. These include a small singleplayer campaign, a singleplayer skirmish and a singleplayer wave defense mode. There is also a multiplayer skirmish mode and a multiplayer battle royale type gamemode.
Features:
Cinematic camera, stunning visuals, epic soundtrack

Stellar Warfare is both a love letter and a homage to classic RTS games. It brings several of its long lost tropes and staples to the current day and age. The game will be available to the public via Steam on August 4 2021. Priced at $19.99 USD on Windows PC, with Linux and Mac ports due to follow as development progresses.
Stellar Warfare due to bring the classic RTS to Linux
Stellar Warfare space RTS due to get native support in Linux gaming with Mac and Windows PC. According to Dutch game studio Tense Games. Who is announcing the game due to release on Steam. The Space RTS, Stellar Warfare is releasing a Closed Alpha format. The game itself is due to take place in the far future where humanity has colonized the local galaxy. While you the player must control their fleet of spaceships. Returning order to the galaxy. An event known as The Light has caused a galaxy wide civil war. So it is up to the player to look for answers and create stability. With that the Steam page only shows Windows PC support. Therefore, we reached out regarding Linux and we have positive news.
I'm making the game in Unity. Once it's done I think it should be fairly easy to also make a linux export. Since it's one of the features supported by Unity. Windows PC has the priority for now. And once that works I'll attempt to make both a Mac and Linux build.
With Stellar Warfare space RTS due to get native support. This will also be the first time Tense Games supports the Linux gaming community. Who are working on getting the Windows PC stable before moving to further platform support. Which means we will have to sit tight for now. And fingers crossed development and porting goes smoothly. But for now, check out the gameplay below to get a further idea of what you can expect. Since Stellar Warfare is due to arrive with both singleplayer and online PvP gameplay.
Stellar Warfare: Singleplayer wave survival

Players can start putting their fleet together. Selecting from over a million possible setups in Stellar Warfare. You can create fast ships, tanky ships, ships which lay down a field of flak. Or simply crafts that are cheap to produce. The player can then purchase those ships in-game. Which all comes after building up your base, economy and defenses, of course. No one likes a warp jump into their backyard. Either way the galaxy is due to transform into a big cinematic mess.
