Hello everyone!
As you may have seen, the plot of Stellirae is progressing toward its conclusion. With that in mind, we want to warn you all about the anticipated ending dates for the group, so that you can plan out your plots and such accordingly. Our last app run will be held on Tuesday, April 13th. Additionally, The cooldown on new character applications will be increased to two weeks after this Friday’s (March 19th) app run. This will help us focus on the stories and events we have planned for the remainder of the main plotline.
Currently, we expect the main plot to wrap up in the middle of May, with a brief, low-key epilogue to follow. The plot was intended to take about a year and our anniversary will be on April 20th, and, after some discussion, we have chosen to end it in around the originally planned timeframe to make sure we can still reach our original planned ending, and give you all the finale you deserve, rather than burn out entirely and end with a whimper.
We're excited to finally get to our final act! When the epilogue concludes, we intend to leave the server up for your convenience and so you do not lose any of the content, but it will no longer be maintained or moderated. Thanks for sticking with us! We’re so glad to have you with us, whether you joined at launch or any time since. We’re thrilled to show you all what we have planned!
App run will occur tonight soon, as usual. However, we wanted to give a fair warning: this Tuesday will be the last app run that occurs while things are relatively calm for the next two weeks, so if you’re a new member who’s worried about being overwhelmed or a member who wants to bring in a muse quietly, please keep that in mind.
We look forward to seeing you!
(To make it clear: we still plan on holding app runs as normal, but we just wanted to warn you that new characters would be coming into Some Stuff during that time, and we wanted you to have forewarning so you don’t app and then arrive in the middle of all of that in confusion.)
Hello everyone, we apologize for the short notice, but we have made some adjustments to our rules in reference to reserves and applications. To sum it up, these are the changes:
RESERVES.
- From April 13 to April 19 only, each individual is allowed two reserves at the same time. Reserves made during this period will last two weeks, from the day they were sent. No extensions can be made on these reserves, so please be mindful.
- For any reserves made on April 20th or after, each individual can only have one reserve at a time, which will last a week, and can only be extended up to another week, for up to two weeks total.
APPLICATIONS.
- We will be accepting early applications starting April 18th. Applications submitted before opening will not be allowed to enter the server until opening, but we will be processing applications otherwise (pages on the blog, assigning divisions and roommates, etc) and sending out friend requests from QUEEN.
- From April 18 to April 26 only, we will not be enforcing our "one application per week" cooldown. Meaning, you are allowed to send in two applications (i.e. have two characters immediately on opening) during this time. We will enforce the cooldown beginning April 27.
As always, should any questions arise, feel free to contact us on our Twitter, Curiouscat, or here on Tumblr! Thank you!
We welcome all to the fourth and final planet of the Stellirae System, Novitruz. This icy planet holds the answers to many long-standing questions, but you must figure out how to brave the cold and the fallout of horrific experiments that took place there...
See the introduction and a list of updated pages and documents HERE.
The Blood Moon's magic fades as the week-long holiday comes to a close, causing monsters to vanish and returning everything to normal. Despite all of the needed clean-up from the streamers and confetti, it's hardly an issue compared to the now complete reconstructions and clean-up on Gladiolus Station and Luesera...
With the ending of this year's Blood Moon, reconstruction efforts are now complete on Luesera - opening several new options and experiences on the planet, ripe for the taking. This document also includes our final Luesera update, which brings the announcement of several new additions and updates including changes to planetary free travel, new locations, new Special Upgrades, and the first planetary housing.
See more about the Blood Moon conclusion and these other new additions HERE.
Additionally, the 27th marks the end of our second activity check, and four months since the opening of stellirae, which means new updates! We've got quite a few things to keep house, under the cut:
1. The FAQ has been given a major update, to accompany many new commonly asked questions, and the page is no longer in QUEEN’s voice to help make it more accessible and easier to read.
2. The opening of our Joules shop for those who have achieved Neutron rank! If you've got all those extra Joules, you can donate that energy to the station in a non-invasive manner and they'll give you things in return. Check out the new #joules-shop channel for the shopping list!
3. We're introducing a new channel, #kroo-net to look for expedition parties! Your character can list their strengths and weaknesses and what they look for in an expedition crew. It's like matchmaking, but for expedition teams! (oh my god they're an expedition team)
4. The system-happenings channel has been divided into two separate channels: news-station and system-happenings. The difference between the two is as follows:
#news-station: For news-worthy, important and major happenings that almost anyone can react to on the station or planets; such as moderate/major crimes, large-scale events, business openings, events that affect the plot, etc.
#system-happenings: For more minor, contained happenings that are low-scale and would only be noticed by individuals in a specific area on the station or planets; such as descriptions of characters walking around and doing activities in a specific area (ex. "A mysterious man stands in the City Center", "if you're in New Eluro you can see a couple walking around and holding hands", "pop music and colorful lights are coming from Lerna Coves 2", "An injured woman was running the Autumn Outskirts and is now being taken to the hospital"), smaller, unofficial events and gatherings, and minor crimes.
If you are unsure of which channel to place your happenings in, feel free to ask in #questions! Happenings placed in the wrong channel will be deleted, and you will be asked to place it into the other.
5. The Housing Accommodations document has been updated! Security & locks for both Standard and Preferred housing have been enhanced, ensuring that unwanted intruders cannot enter housings they do not own without triggering an alarm and alerting the authorities, and teleportation (& similar abilities) cannot be used to get into housing you don't own or are not invited into.
Additionally, the # of bedrooms and bathrooms in Preferred housing have been increased! The number of bedrooms in each type of preferred housings now equal the maximum number of residents, so each resident, by default, has their own, personal bedroom (for housings with couples, the extra bedroom(s) can be turned into extra free space for other things). All preferred housings have been adjusted to the follows:
Small: 3 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms and a half bathroom, costing 150 lunites/month, with a maximum of 3 residents.
Medium: 4 bedrooms & 3 bathrooms, costing 250 lunites/month, with a maximum of 4 residents.
Large: 5 bedrooms & 4 bathrooms, costing 500 lunites/month, with a maximum of 5 residents.
Again, this change applies to all preferred housings, including those that currently have residents, and future preferred housings. How did additional bedrooms/bathrooms get added to housing units while people were living there? Don't worry about it.
These changes are fully installed and effective with this update. No more need for bedsharing! Unless ..? 😳
6. A new type of thread, exploration threads, has been added to the Point System document, worth 500 joules. To have a thread qualify for being an exploration thread, it must take place in a named location within our setting, as listed on the Station or Planetary Locations (such as Luesera) documents, with the characters interacting with or responding to the setting, or involving it in the thread to some extent.
The following named locations do not apply for exploration threads: Locations in The Underground, chain locations on the station, or any type of housing. Threads taking place exclusively in these areas will count as normal threads (250 joules), the same as any threads that take place in a general and/or unnamed area (such as a thread that takes place generally in the Summer Quarter).
Hi everyone! It has been well over a month into Stellirae's launch, and we'd like to thank you all for the overwhelming support and interest in the group. Because Stellirae has grown much larger than we'd ever anticipated, we're still in the process of fine-tuning things accordingly. We've made some recent adjustments to our systems, summarized below.
ACTIVITY CHECK
Most importantly, our first activity check will begin on the 20th, next week. We’ve made a few adjustments to our activity check, mainly for important distinctions when it comes to those exempt from activity requirements:
Those that were applied within 3 weeks before activity check ( which, for this upcoming activity check, is any characters applied from May 31st to June 19th ) must still submit an activity check form, even though they are exempt from the activity check interaction requirements. Failing to submit an activity check form on these characters will cause them to fail the check. Again, don’t worry about making the interaction requirements on these characters - they are only required to submit the form to keep their place in the group. This is to help cut down on inactive characters.
Characters applied during activity check or on hiatus during activity check don’t need to submit a form, and automatically pass. If possible, submitting a form during this time is appreciated for the sake of recordkeeping, but isn’t mandatory for these characters. For the sake of convenience, we will only be holding ONE app run during the week of the activity check, on WEDNESDAY.
All characters applied before the 3 weeks ( for the upcoming check, before May 31st ) must pass the interaction requirements ( as seen on the Rules document ) and submit an activity check form.
We ask that if you don’t feel like keeping a character, that you drop them before the activity check instead of just letting them be taken out by it, to help ease the processing load that comes during activity checks.
During the activity check, we will be sending periodic reminders ( during the beginning, middle, and end of the activity check ) that it is occurring. We recommend you send the form at your earliest convenience rather than putting it off so you don’t forget. The activity check will last a week, beginning on SATURDAY, 12 AM EST and ending on FRIDAY, 11:59 PM EST.
SPECIAL UPGRADE UPDATES
We've updated the special upgrades document to clarify that it is possible to "combine" special upgrades with other special upgrades and abilities, so as long as the combined ability can't do anything the base abilities couldn't do. ( For example, someone combining STAGE 1 FIRE MANIPULATION with STAGE 1 HEALING could make their fire heal small injuries, but not larger injuries – which is gated behind STAGE 2 HEALING. )
Additionally, special upgrades that one has obtained can be swapped out for other special upgrades of the same stages later on. ( For example, if someone has MENTALITY STAGES 1 and 2, but decides later on they’d rather have NATURE, they can send in the new special upgrade swap form to have NATURE STAGES 1 and 2 instead ).
REPUTATION SYSTEM CHANGES
We've adjusted the reputation sheet so that for PLANETARY RACES, reputation is influenced and applies to ALL ASPIRANTS regardless of division placement. REPRESENTATIVES on the station will still hold different reputation standings with different divisions. Individual aspirants/characters can still possibly have their own individual reputation for a specific race due to their actions.
RANK-UP FORM ADJUSTMENTS
For ease of processing, if what your character is requesting isn't obvious ( such as the character describing the item or power using a different name or phrase from what's on their app ), please note the actual name of it in OOC notes. We also request that players label if something their character is requesting back is an item or a power. Our rank up form has been amended to reflect this.
HIATUS RULES ADJUSTMENTS
We've adjusted our hiatus rules a bit. A two week hiatus is now officially referred to as a *semi-hiatus,* while a four week hiatus is simply a *hiatus.* A semi-hiatus can be upgraded to a full hiatus as needed. If necessary, a hiatus can be extended to be eight weeks total—just talk to us and we can get that sorted. Keeping in mind that we'll be having our first activity check soon, be aware that we will not be accepting hiatus requests during activity checks.
ONGOING EXPEDITIONS
We’ve introduced new, ongoing expeditions. These expeditions can be repeated, though they’ll have a cooldown between repeats, and won’t be swapped out of the expedition rotation.
ADDITIONAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
We would like to remind everyone to make sure their provided contacts are actually contactable. We've been consistently receiving quite a few contacts whose DMs were closed, making it difficult for inbox moderators to contact people as needed. Our rules have been amended to emphasize as such.
We would also like to ask that nicknames in the official Stellirae server use plaintext, as using alternate characters and fancy text makes it difficult for both us doing processing (as their name won’t come up when we go to @ them). Emojis and other symbols can still be used.
For example, going to ping “Pikachu” will work, but if their name is set as “𝓟𝓲𝓴𝓪𝓬𝓱𝓾”, Discord will be unable to find the person nicknamed Pikachu, making it harder to give them joules, as we’ll have to look for their Discord ID.
In addition to this, Discord IDs themselves must be entirely in plaintext ( with the caveat that they don’t have to be the character’s name ).
We want to be clear that none of the changes and clarifications above were made in response to any specific incidences, but that we feel we hadn't been as clear as we could've ( or overlooked ) with our guidelines initially. As always, should you have any questions concerning these updates or otherwise, feel free to reach out for a moderator in #questions!
