Sep Blatter is a Jackass
"There is no racism, there is maybe one of the players towards the other, he has a word or a gesture which is not the correct one, but also the one who is affected by that, he should say it's a game, we are in a game." FIFA President, Sep Blatter, in a recent interview claiming there is no on-pitch racism in soccer and that those offended should more or less just 'walk it off.'
Racism is one of the biggest challenges facing football today (along with FIFA corruption). A callous statement like Blatter's reveals just how serious of a problem it is and how it has become institutionalized into the structure of the sport itself.
Further, statements like these, from an individual privileged by education, economic status and gender, reveal the gap in our educational systems--that a man in Blatter's position of power could rise so high without ever seeing the macro systems of prejudice that allowed him, in part, to get where he is.
